Gallery 1988: Great artwork, some hints, new accessories, and the May Club Eternia Figure!

Last week, many fans were anxiously awaiting the opening of G88's MOTU Art Show on Friday night due to a tip from Matty that one of two SDCC Exclusive figures would be revealed there. Unfortunately, Matty informed us on Friday morning that a complication had arisen and that SDCC reveal would not be possible. Luckily, Mattel was able to recover and did not disappoint - unless you're one of those folks that takes the term "Classics" literally when it comes to MOTU Classics! We at IAT see the entire line and all past incarnations as one giant MOTUverse and we're not afraid to say we were excitedly exchanging texts and phone calls as the images rolled in. Let's just say Matty gave us more than a few goodies to make up for the missing SDCC figure.

Most Requested Year-End Poll: The Winner

Last year, we featured eighteen Most Requested articles asking for figures from all over the toy kingdom. The requests ranged from cancelled lines to current lines, from 2" Minimates to 8" Hellboy figures, and we even threw in a juice drink for good measure. At the end of the year, we decided to start our first annual tradition, a runoff between those requests to see which one was really the Most Requested Figure of 2009. We let our readers decide who deserved that top spot.

After two rounds, and over a thousand votes cast, we have the results and are ready to announce our winner.

Mr. Rant likes his women to have articulation

Originally, my plan had been to take off until next week, but I've been drawn back early by the news from Mattel yesterday. For those who are unaware, many collectors have been having problems with their Goddess figures. I have. In fact, all the ones that came to IAT last week were affected. The problem is the neck peg is incredibly loose in it's socket. Basically, if you hold the figure by the head, you can shake her body like a rattle. Or, if you prefer, she's a bobblehead.

Now, this is annoying on a toy that costs over twenty dollars. And when people began to complain, Mattel responded with this:

ItsAllTrueReview: MOTU Classics Goddess

If you aren't sure where the Goddess fits into MOTU, that's okay. It's a bit confusing. You could say she was a work-in-progress stage as the creators of MOTU made their way to the Sorceress. The Goddess first appears, as the "Sorceress", in the first mini-comic and bestows powerful vestments onto a barbarian so that he may become He-Man. She appears again in Teela's mini-comic, now referred to as the Goddess, but with Teela's color scheme. After awhile, the cartoon comes along and replaces her outright with the falcon-themed Sorceress and left her consigned to MOTU limbo.
