I did my best to resist the tempation of Batman: Brave and the Bold Action League, but, now that those cute little versions of Batman & Co. have been exchanged for a broader DC Universe line, my willpower has finally lapsed. This week, I snagged Grodd and a couple others to see what I’ve been missing.
One of the biggest toy shows in Japan, Wonder Festival, will take place on Feb 6th. IAT will be covering this event with the generous assistance of IAT forum member Robert Baldwin (aka: Dorkey). In addition to coverage of the event, he's also offered to bring some of our comments & questions to the exhibitors.
Our Retro Reviews column is about taking a look back at some of the best, and worst, toys that we grew up with. Not just an exercise in nostalgia, but we’d like these reviews to also be a history lesson in the industry we all love. Today’s subject is still one of my favorite toys ever: Pocket Power’s Glo-Bones.
I was surprised when Kaiyodo announced number twenty in their Sci-Fi Revoltech line was going to be a skeleton warrior from the film Jason and the Argonauts. The works of Ray Harryhausen are perfect for this line, and there’s no better figure to illustrate this point than the reanimated skeleton warrior.
Number nineteen in Revoltech’s Sci-Fi line is Toho’s second giant monster, Anguirus. A loyal friend to Godzilla with a tenacious fighting style, Anguirus has become one of the most loved kaiju among fans. Plus, I’m also hoping that between his and Rodan’s inclusion in the line, Godzilla can’t be too far behind.
difficult to be surprised by toy aisle finds anymore. Back in the day, you could wander into the toy aisle never knowing what might be there. I miss those days, so, with that in mind, I bring you my latest aisle discovery: Batman: The Brave and the Bold: Total Armor: Kickpuncher The Joker. (Yes, that's his actual name.)
Every once in a while I’ll see a toy that I must have even though I know nothing about it. The Persona 3 character of Aegis was the first import figure I bought purely on the basis that she looked awesome. I wasn’t disappointed. So when Max Factory released pictures of the Metis figure for the Figma line, it didn’t take long for me to submit my preorder.
