Most Requested Figures: Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths

On Tuesday, Warner Bros. released Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, their latest direct-to-DVD animated movie. I'm sure that most of you have noticed we happen to love DC Comics here at IAT and this was a must-buy for all of us. So we trekked out into the cold, bought our multiple copies, and then all headed for Noisy’s house so we could watch it together. I know what you're thinking, but that’s how we roll.

Spoilers: In this article, we're discussing a recent DVD release. Now, we won't spoil the ending, but we might drop a few plot details and we'll definitely be talking about characters that appeared in the film. Proceed of your own accord...

Mr. Rant was once falsely accused by a cloth cape…

I’m a little ashamed to be mentioning this so late. I'm generally fairly observant, so when I miss something obvious, it annoys me. Luckily, no one here at IAT noticed it right away either. What I’m talking about is the Toy Fair coverage of the Mattel booth. Specifically, the Trigon C&C. Anyone else notice he has a cloth cape now? Trigon didn’t have a cloth cape when they originally showed us his sculpted figure. Originally, he had a nice plastic cape that fit in with all the other plastic capes in the line.

Vault Review: G.I. Joe Arctic Threat Doc & Shipwreck

I was at Toys R Us the other day when the Toy Gods smiled down upon me. Noisy found a TRU Exclusive Batman, but, as usual, they had nothing I had gone there for (still can’t find that Arcee). Since they were resetting I walked around hoping for a surprise. I found it in the G.I. Joe aisle. The neon colors of Arctic Threat Doc caught my eye. Arctic Threat Doc and Shipwreck had appeared to fill the empty Joe pegs, and with snow on the ground I had to buy them. When I got home, these brave Joes ventured outside to see to the environment they were destined for…

Vault Review:
Kryptonite Chaos 2pk

I got a surprise last week while checking e-mail. BigBadToyStore informed me that they were fulfulling my pre-order. I didn’t remember pre-ordering anything from them recently, so you can probably understand my confusion. When I checked my account, lo and behold, I realized what had happened. Yup, a year ago I put my order in for the Luthor/Supergirl two-pack in the hopes that the accessory would be awesome (as promised by Matty) and that it would help ensure the Golden Age Hawks 2pk. Well, that Hawk 2pk is still not in the works and when Matty told ItsAllTrue.Net that the accessory would be four colors of kryptonite, I took note, but had forgotten entirely that I still had it pre-ordered.

Mr. Rant to Toy Companies: “Do Better!”

I spend a disproportionate amount of my income on Mattel toys. As a result, many of my Rants are aimed at Mattel. I don’t like that. I want to spread it around, so to speak. Last night, Noisy gave me a revelation. I don’t have a lot to rant about on other companies because they’re not doing as good a job tempting me with their product as Mattel does. That, he said, is a rant unto itself...

I know that toy companies sure aren’t perfect, and I don’t expect them to be. But, what I do expect is for them to think and try. So here are a few pointers to help out those companies that are a little confused. If they’ll follow a few of these suggestions, they’re bound to get featured in my column more often than they do now.

Mr. Rant feels let down by Playmates

I have to say that I was really excited for Toy Fair 2010. While I do look forward to the unveiling of the thousands of dollars of stuff that Mattel is going to have me buying this year, they aren’t the reason I was excited. I was rather enthusiastic over what Playmates was going to show us. Why Playmates you ask? Well, because Playmates has the Star Trek license.
