Armybuilders are a funny thing. We're so willing to buy multiples of nameless guys despite wanting only one of our favorite characters. And it certainly baffles toy companies, doesn't it? Mattel recently took a chance on armybuilding with their Eternian Palace Guards 2pk. Of course, I just had to buy two.
Whether it's for a few years or a few panels, all comic book characters change costumes over the course of their publishing history. In Costume Consensus, we poll our readers about which costumes they'd prefer to buy when their favorite characters are finally turned into action figures. This week: Elongated Man!
One of my favorite Transformers figures from last year was the Revenge of the Fallen Lockdown. So when Hasbro announced they would be reusing that body for the Hunt for the Decepticons Axor figure, he definitely joined my buying list. The only problem was I just couldn’t seem to find him anywhere.
Normally, I gobble up DC Classics releases as soon as possible. I like DC and I'll buy figures of just about anybody. Add that to the fact that I've only seen some figures once or twice, and I've learned to buy 'em when I see 'em. But this 2pk? I left it at TRU plenty of times. It just didn't seem worth it.
Mattel posted a new packaged picture on Facebook today. This time a shot of Sy-Klone in package. He looks pretty good in there and I'm particularly happy that Mattel was able to keep the classic lenticular chest and still retain the ab crunch. Plus, we also get our first look at Sy-Klone's bio.
I did my best to resist the tempation of Batman: Brave and the Bold Action League, but, now that those cute little versions of Batman & Co. have been exchanged for a broader DC Universe line, my willpower has finally lapsed. This week, I snagged Grodd and a couple others to see what I’ve been missing.
I want new characters in MOTU Classics. I want Stinkor, Frosta, & Flipshot too - but I really want to see MOTU Classics expand with a few new guys in the mix too (Horde Mummy, please). Mattel comes closest to fulfilling that desire with the January Club Eternia figure: Vikor - He-Man of the North!
