I can’t explain it, but it feels like I’ve been on one long, busy ride since SDCC (Tuesday can’t really be November can it?). I was embarrassed to discover that I’d never properly highlighted one of the best things I saw from the SDCC coverage: the Four Horsemen's Fantastic Exclusive Raven.
Was anyone else surprised by how quickly NYCC has become toy relevant? In years past, there might’ve been some toy news revealed at NYCC, but with Hasbro making a bigger commitment with NYCC-specific exclusives and Mattel trotting out a few reveals, last weekend ended up much more exciting than I’d expected.
It may have been a normal weekend at work for yours truly, but this was a big weekend for Masters of the Universe & Thundercats. While I was toiling away, many more fortunate, better planning, or more geographically gifted fans gathered together for the first ever PowerCon & ThunderCon in LA.
I saw some somber news checking Twitter after leaving work this evening: Mattel has cancelled the 2012 Club Ecto-1 subscription program. There appears to be some shuffling going to keep the line alive and the subscription no longer fit in those plans. It kinda sucks, but the line’s not dead yet.
You didn’t think the petitions would end with Club Infinite Earths being approved, did you? AFi’s techno-whiz and friend of IAT, Vader, has setup a site in an effort to get Mattel to include light-up features in Metron's Chair. Check out his site (there’s sound!) and toggle Metron around the screen!
It seemed the end had arrived for DC Classics. The mocking thermometer had stopped at only two-thirds full and stood as a grave marker for a cool idea. But today, Mattel had good news for the collectors who plunked down their cash: DC Universe Club Infinite Earths is a go!
