Some of the new figures I've been eagerly awaiting this year are from Hasbro's Marvel Universe line. After resisting for a few years, the line's character selection has come back around and hit me upside the head. MU's Wave Thirteen included a couple figures that I wanted, particularly Cable.
I gotta admit that I'm feeling a little rusty here. I only got seven reviews done in May and those were almost all in the first half of the month. So I thought I'd start with something on the easy side - a quick (& mostly pictorial) review of Spy Monkey Creations Hammer of War, Chalybeous. Hope I spelled that right.
This Thor figure was one of four Marvel Universe exclusives released at last year's San Diego Comicon and is based on his appearance in Ages of Thunder. I wasn't able to get him reviewed in time for Thor week, but that's okay, because now he can be a THORsday review to help promote The Daily Thor!
The was supposed to be up Friday, but we had a technical issue here at IAT. Some internet hiccup altered php files and made the site was partially inaccessible, broke some site features, and shutdown our forum outright. It was two days I won't soon forget. Anyway, I'm here now with my last Thor Week Review.
My last review of the week is the Thor and Enchantress Secret Wars two-pack. Like the Doom two-pack, this was the first chance for Marvel Universe fans to pick up a Thor figure, not to mention an Enchantress. On paper this two-pack seemed promising, but sadly, the plastic reality wasn’t so great.
For Wednesday's entry into Thor Week, I'm going to take look at the Marvel Universe line's Wrecking Crew! You have to buy three two-packs and a single carded figure to put this four man team together, but you get a complete team when you're done! And in comic toy lines, you should never overlook a complete team.
I also found it interesting that they chose to give us a classic comic book version of Doom in a Secret Wars pack. I always thought the battle armor that he forged to take down the Beyonder had a great look. Plus it made for a really cool toy in the original Secret Wars line. So not seeing that version is a bit disappointing for me.
