Bloodlust Umbreus is a “DX” figure which is code for more paint apps. (I could think of a few Mattel figures I’d like to see get the DX treatment). The paint work is pretty sharp on most of the figure. I love the scoured edges on the chest and abdomen panels. It helps give the figure this rough, but detailed look. Also, look sharp on the chest tampos – we’ve got a new logo for the evil Vilhains. The old logo worked fine, but I love the new one. If you decide to flip the character over to a heroic soul, a piece with the Gearo logo is also included. And yes, the extra paint apps do raise the cost of the figure, but you also get more accessories than with your normal Monkaan.

As I mentioned above, you get the full complement of heads and the classic sword & sickle weapons. Also included are four vac metal spikes. I’m a sucker for anything vac metal, so I loved these additions.

Also included in the box from SMC was a set of the Close Combat Accessory Weapon Set. It’s being offered in two formats this go round, the basic set for $3 and a DX set with three vac metal parts for $5. If you’re thinking about snagging these, spring for the extra $2 and pick up the vac metal set. You get an additional spike, a cap, and the business end of SMC’s Demon saber. While Umbreus has great hand attachments, you can’t beat giving him a big ass sword. Heck, everybody looks great with a big ass sword – that if nothing else should keep SMC in business for years to come. The Monkaans are just the icing on the cake.

This deluxe Close Combat Armory includes a complete PVC Close Combat Armory in an alternate build plus bonus Vac Metal ABS parts!
