SKELETOR UPDATE: To let all He-Fan knows, not all units of old bonehead arrived in time for yesterday’s sale. While this shipment of Skeletor sold out in record time, we’ve now confirmed more are coming (similar to Mer-Man back in April). Hopefully the remaining order will be here in first quarter 2010. As soon as we confirm they’ve arrived, we’ll post an update.

Better late than never?
It’s likely that they didn’t even know until today either. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of communication between the various departments.
The cynic in me wonders if this is just spin to help ease the frustration about the debacle.
First quarter is a wide margin, but if they show up relatively quickly Mattel wouldn’t have been able to make more and get them over here that fast.
how exactly did some skellie’s miss the boat… did he oversleep? don’t most warehousese usually keep like gods together, so there’s a stack of skeletors, not a smattering between some polly pockets, and a few used as door stops, and opps, a couple execs took some home to feed their dogs, and we built a cabana out back next to the office pool out of the remainder.
No, this happens all the time. If a ship has limited space compared top what was promised to vendors they will either ask for an additional fee to ‘bump’ someone else and put your full shipment on board or, most likely, not say anything and only load part of several shipments, explaining after the fact that a container might have been ‘missed’. My guess is that when DR flagged Skelly as out-of-stock so fast Matty got on the phone and only then discovered the missing cases. Still bad inventory maintenance but one I can forgive during all the seasonal deal making that goes on.

this reminds me of issues that were claimed by a much much smaller company who shall remain nameless… still funny though… seems like a lame excuse for the pandemonium.. happily, I did get one, and I have the first release, so I can sit out of skeletor part 3… I am also content to wait until BBTS gets their full allotment of DCUC wv11, and taking next week off from matty… they got way too much of my money yesterday, and I see no reason to give them more for something a website I trust more has had on preorder for half a year.
the abusive relationship continues.. I can just hear their mascot saying “oh sweety, I’m so sorry, but you know how crazy I get, let me make it up to you…”

Sadly, this information would have been useful 24 hours ago, before I resorted to eBay and paid a 50% markup for the 2nd release Skeletor. One would think that after several months of these release dates, Mattel could get its act together so that the mattycollector site is actually responsive and that they have a reasonable stock of product available. I’m beginning to get very frustrated at this process month after month, but unfortunately, there isn’t any other choice.
After my experience yesterday, I was just about ready to give up on the entire MOTU line, since it really isn’t worth this much aggravation.
Any others feeling the same frustration with Matty?
Honestly, as a DCUC collector, it’s hard for me to get frustrated about anything MOTU, but I do hear ya.
That’s messed up. How can they not know that before hand?
