Ask Matty – February 1st Edition

We’re still missing deadlines for the questions (and the deadline for the next round too, oops…), but we still wanted to provide the links to the sites that did submit their questions in on time…

  1. Well, any thoughts or comments on this?

“Kastor’s Korner: Digital River is requiring damaged or defective Wind Raiders be sent back before a replacement can be issued, but there are now reports that customers who return the defective product are being issued refunds instead of replacements, thus making their collections incomplete. Is there no stock allocated for defectives for vehicles, and will this lack of replacements for defects and damaged items be the same for all subscription products going forward? More to point for the Wind Raider, will it be offered again for those who were issued a refund instead of a replacement?

Matty: There are still customer service stock of Windraiders available if you have a defective one to send back for a replacement.”

So then Poe got double screwed?

yeesh. Maybe he was supposed to use the double-secret code word or something.

I can already see the next round: “So, in reply it was stated that there was CS stock of Wind Raiders to replace defects yet NOBODY who sent theirs back got a new one, everyone got refunds. Can someone who got a refund instead of a desired toy now get one?”

Mock Matty:” There was an inventory confusion due to the logistics of the toy. once you’ve gotten the refund that’s the end of the matter as far as Mattel is concerned. There are no more Wind Raiders. Oh, by the way, because of the high cost of customer service issues on this item it’s been judged a complete failure and hence no more vehicles will be made. CASE CLOSED”

(I won’t point out that with just a little prevention, like having on-site inspectors doing random checks AND NOT JUST TRUSTING TO THE HAND-PICKED SAMPLES SENT BY THE FACTORY, there would be much fewer impacts on the bottom line by excessive customer service issues…)

  2. my fave was this one from elkk thunder:

It seems with DCUC that accessories for the figures is random at time. Why accessories like the scythe for Nekron or the whip for Catwoman left out, but a character like Bronze Tiger, gets weapons?

“It is not random, it is just the ongoing conflict with what we creatively want to produce and what time and budgets will allow.”

is it me, or is “oh, we make plans, but time and budget can change those unexpectedly” sound like IT’S FRIGGIN RANDOM!!!!!

    1. We kept asking about a White Lantern accessory with Wave 20 Flash, and that didn’t materialize, even though he comes with an open fist to carry it. But he got a clear Electric Superman-crested energy pattern fitted into his back! Is that really what you thought we wanted, Matty?

But Flash and even Nekron weren’t the worst offenders. The best missing accessory has to be the All-Star Green Lantern in Wave 20. Every other Hal (all 27 of them) came with a Lantern accessory. This guy has no BAF piece, and no Green Lantern lantern. I forget if he even had a stand… I believe he didn’t even get that courtesy.

      1. I could swear Matty had their own Sinestro Corps Lantern, but the “corrected” version on SC Sinestro comes with a classic yellow lantern. wtF?

        1. Because the Sinestro design the first one came with got dropped almost immediately in the comics if it got used at all.
