My most anticipated toyline of the year has to be the Nickelodeon relaunch of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And judging by the response of our toy-reviewing colleagues, I think it’s safe to say that I’m not alone. So here’s my review of the Nickelodeon Leonardo and Raphael. 
I have no idea what to write about Rocket Red. I’ve got twelve pictures to work around and I don’t think anyone’s going to stick through two pages of me bitching and moaning about how this figure annoys me. I like to have fun with toys, but this guy’s a challenge.
Seems like just a few days ago I was opening a gigantic box packed full of various MOTU and DC figures. But that was actually way back in June, and now that it’s almost August I thought I’d better catch up before that San Diego Comic-con package gets here.
Turtle fever sure is going around in the collecting community of late. Vault was sucked in when he found the new Nickelodeon figures at TRU. I held out until I saw the Classic Turtles at my LCS and… well, I didn’t buy any… the first day. I went back the next!
Initially, I thought I’d be buying this figure as a "generic policeman". It was cool to get a Joseph Gordon-Levitt figure and all, but who in the heck was John Blake anyway? Speaking of, there could be Dark Knight Rises spoilers, particularly in the comments, please proceed at your own risk.
I’m getting back into some of the non-Transformers imports today and finishing up the last (so far) character in Takeya Takayuki's Buddhist Statue Collection. Like the Buddhist figures before him, Jikokuten is an impressive specimen of how detailed paint/sculpting can be on a smaller scaled figure.
How do you get a toy collector to buy a second version of a toy he didn’t particularly like? A new, improved deco? That certainly helps. A fun new accessory? Doesn’t hurt. An alternate build a Batsignal piece? Well... damn it. Luckily, the changes to this version make him more palatable.
