Joe Amaro’s Castle
Warriors Customization Kit

The other part of the kit is an awesome alternate head and removable helmet. This is the part where I feel really compelled to snag a second CGM. The new head is perfectly sized for the line, it pops on and off like any official head and is also color-matched to CGM. Joe did such a great job on the sculpt, that once you plop it on there, you wouldn’t know that the head wasn’t originally included. It looks that sharp. I’ve asked Joe about doing this sculpt in other colors – possibly an unhooded Skeletor head, so if you’re with me, you might let him know too and see if we can convince him.

The final piece is the removable helmet. The helmet fits perfectly over the included skull head and really completes the “Castle Warrior” look. The helmet is such a fun piece that I was looking for another character who could use it, but all the hair & helmets in the line really limited my options. I did sorta get it on Grizzlor. He looks funny, but then again, Grizzlor always looks funny.

Overall, this is a great add-on kit if you were able to pick it up. I asked Joe the other day about the possibility of hm selling a few more Kits, but he said he thought the item was retired. I know that will be a bummer for most of the readers, but maybe if enough of you go to Joe’s site and ask politely? You never know… (Sorry, Joe, I had to do it!) If nothing else, everyone should check out Joe’s Blog just to see the swanky Attak Trak he made for himself. His blogs kills me with all its wonderful toys!

While the CW Kit is currently retired, Joe did want me to let everyone know about his next item. I’m pretty excited for this one and hopeful to get in on it (maybe I’ll even review it in a timely manner!). It’s a Hover Disc that will fit most 6″-7″ figures. The plan is that it will be available in Mid-November, Joe said he was shooting for 11/18, and he’s looking at $20 plus shipping. You can check out more about it here!

  1. Love Skelly’s reaction in the above two pics. Good stuff.

I might have picked up this set if I’d read about it earlier but if a second run ever happens (hope you’re reading this, Joe) I’ll be on it. Thanks for the heads-up on the Hover Disc.

And Noisy, it’s somewhat poetic that you haven’t gotten around to reviewing Castle Grayskull Man yet even as the actual playset is just around the corner. Kinda like all the right planets correctly aligning or something. 🙂

    1. I’ve been thinking the Castle would be a good time to finally get his review up. Vault was originally supposed to review CGM, but he chickened out. LOL

  2. the CGM set indeed looks cool, though i didn’t snag one up. but come on, the disco coaster up there? for 20 bucks? i tell you what folks, i’ll mail you a real live he-man fart in a jar for $15, it’s a bargain! limited to only 150 pieces, you can’t get this fart anywhere else!

  3. He did do a second run at the time these came out. You had the option of getting either the full set with stand or just the head and helmet. I got lucky and ordered 2 of the head/helmet sets as I didn’t really want the stand.

    1. I thought that Hover Disc would be cool for Mongul or maybe one of the New Gods, but $20 PLUS shipping? Yikes.

      1. Remember they’re all hand sculpted and limited runs. It’s like boutique shopping. It does get pricey, but it feels better than sending another $20 to Mattel!

    2. I think the Hover Discs will be DCUC compatible. That’s a start! I would love to see him tackle some DC stuff! You should check out his 6″ scale Jabba the Hutt on his blog!

      1. I saw the Jabba, it’s fantastic! I’m hoping we’ve nudged him a little for some type of
        DCUC stuff.

  4. Thank you for the review!!! I’ll reveiw the molds to see if maybe I can make more. I have bigger plans for the Hover Disc, this is just Phase 1…

    1. Do you still have any Manta Raiders for sale? It would look really cool with a Black Manta DCUC figure.
