Transformers: Masterpiece
Autobots Visual Checklist

Visual Checklist & Reviews

This checklist includes toys released under the Transformers: Masterpiece label. It is broken into two sections: an catalog-themed checklist that takes figures released by TakaraTomy in Japan, Hasbro’s domestic & Asian releases to form a cohesive line and a simple table of other releases in the MP line that have either been replaced by improved versions or are additional variant releases to a toy already in the checklist. The choices made are strictly that of the checklist creator. Individual collections may vary. US names are used throughout the checklist; a glossary is included below.

If IAT has a review available, it will be linked on this page. If not, links may lead to an offsite review. Offsite reviews do not necessarily reflect the views of IAT.

Release Differences:
MP-01:

MP-01 was released multiple times since debuting in Japan in 2003. The initial US release (2004) included all the same accessories, but featured shorter smokestacks for safety and painted on battle damage in robot mode. The US DVD release (2006) included an electronic base with sound clips. Prime’s flip-up panels for MP-01 & the 20th Anniversary edition feature Bumblebee & Starscream while the DVD Edition features Grimlock & Megatron. Though not included in the checklist due to scarcity, a gold vac-metal Lucky Draw version of MP-01 was made in 2004.

MP-08:

Grimlock was released in Japan in a lighter gray with an apron, bow tie, tray, seven glasses, & the intelligence transfer helmet in addition to his sword & rifle. The US release omitted all but the sword & rifle, adding a crown instead. The US/TRU release was also a darker grey, featured more rounded teeth & tampos that recreated the original stickers. He was reissued at TRU in 2014. Also see: King Grimlock MP-08X.

MP-10:

MP-10 was released in Japan with a metallic red finish, darker blues, and Roller in silver. The US release, a TRU exclusive, featured overall brighter reds & blues largely cast in the appropriate color plastic, painted running lights, and painted, brighter eyes. The interior of the trailer is unpainted and Roller is blue.

Name Translations (US Name = Japanese Name):

Optimus Prime = Convoy , Sideswipe = Lambor , Red Alert = Alert, Bluestreak = Streak , Bumblebee = Bumble
