It’s another Friday night and I find myself in front of the computer for an end-of-the week, Mattel news release! This time it’s our first look at Queen Marlena in package along with her two bios. Yep, two bios. If you remember, the SDCC & Matty versions will feature different packaging & that means two bios!
Here’s the SDCC Version…
Queen Marlena – Heroic Queen of Eternia, Real Name: Marlena Glenn
An explorer from planet Earth, Marlena traveled with two companions in an experimental warp ship through a dimensional rift. Crash landing on Eternia, Marlena was the ship’s only survivor, rescued from certain death by a young Captain Randor. Falling in love with him, Marlena chose to remain on Eternia as Randor’s wife and eventually serve as Queen after the end of the Great Unrest. Although her children do not suspect it, she is well are of both Adam and Adora’s dual identities and is proud of her warrior twins. Often assigned diplomatic duties, Marlena has been trained by Duncan and Clamp Champ and has lead Randor’s armies in battle in times of need. Queen Marlena helps rule the free people of Eternia with her wisdom and strength.

Captain Glenn – Heroic Galactic Adventurer, Real Name: Marlena Glenn
Before she was Queen of Eternia, Marlena Glenn was a heroic explorer and space captain from planet Earth. Along with her courageous crew, she traveled the stars in search of new sources of fuel for her homeworld. A crack shot with almost any laser rifle, she prefers a Higuchi 1114 model for its speed and accuracy. On many adventures she learned to rely not only on her strength and courage but her intellect as well. After completing her assignment with Project Photog, Marlena volunteered to pilot an experimental warp ship through a black hole. Arriving in the center of her dimension, she became the first Earthling to make contact with magical planet of Eternia. Late in life, she used the power of the Cosmic Key to return to her homeworld, discovering a great secret that linked the two planets she called home.

the photog name drop makes me angry, cuz it feels like dangling a bait we can’t eat. and i think it’s funny that she’s hip to the secret identities, but randor isn’t… guess a mother recognizes the faces of those who’ve destroyed her sniz, eh? and what is that crap about the cosmic key? that late in life and she’s risking transdimensional teleportation? she’s not worried about osteoporosis?
i’m hoping the connection to earth is, all earthlings have been converted to the horde!! she broke a seal of protection when she came through the einstein rosen bridge that turned the whole planet into damned dirty apes, and then hordak showed up, laid seed to all the ape women, and now there’s buzz saw chested she-apes and hurricane handed man apes running the whole friggin planet, and normal humans have been driven deep underground where their skin has bleached and they only surface to feed on the sick and elderly horde apes!! BWAWAWAWA!!
Nah… the secret will be that Eternians came from Earth or Earthlings came from Eternia… just like happened in Macross/Robotech… Mattel guys aren’t that imaginative anymore 😛

Not being critical, by any measure, but is “a crack show” a typo in the transcription or in the original biography?
Since it is an SDCC figure, and she is an Earthling, it would be nice if they had replaced the green stone of Castle Grayskull with elements from her spacecraft, particularly since MOC collectors have the Mattycollector version if the abrupt difference would be a problem.

I forgot to mention this in my first post, but I would have liked to see some Masters of The Universe Christmas special inspired accessories, since to my knowledge, that is where the majority of her Earthling backstory is from.
