Review: Wave 3 – Solomon Grundy
As we work to make DCClassics.Com a complete review archive, we occasionally have to turn back the clock and review figures that were released before IAT was founded. This week, we're taking a look at the third wave of DC Classics, the Solomon Grundy wave. I pieced Grundy together in late 2008 at a time when I wasn't very happy with the line overall. In "favorite wave" polls, I usually see this one ranking high, if not first, in the results. I always find that funny, because Wave Three almost got me to drop the line.

TRU Exclusive Hal Jordan
Back in February, IAT broke the story on the Toys R Us Exclusive Batman that had magically reached retail shelves before collectors knew it existed and it was in our April 15th Q&A that Mattel let us know the TRU program would continue with new versions of Green Lantern, Flash, and a 4th unnamed figure. A metallic, Modern Hal had already been spotted on eBay and in the Attack of the Show SDCC preview, so it wasn't hard to put two and two together. MetallaHal was on his way.
Most Requested Figures: DC Fan Poll Results
Twice now, Mattel and ToyFare have teamed up for DCUC fan polls. I’ve made no secret that I’m not a fan of, uh… fan polls. I don’t have an inherent problem with them. It’s just that the characters are rarely selected with care. Often enough, the winner can be guessed before polling even begins. I don’t have any ill will towards the two characters that won their spots in DCUC; I wanted them too. But I also wanted to see Mattel do a fan poll where a savvy reader wouldn’t instantly know the outcome. I wanted some suspense!

(Despero) Retro Review
Continuing our efforts to complete our DC Classics Review Archive, we're making the Retro Review our regular Wednesday feature. This week we're taking a look at DC Classics Wave Four, the Despero Wave.
This wave was released in late 2008. And, at the time, was one of the harder waves for us to complete. With four of the five figures having variants, building Despero was easy enough, but it wasn't always easy to track down both versions of each character.
