Exclusive Battle Armor Faker

In a press release today, Toys R Us and Entertainment Earth revealed a handful of shared SDCC/online exclusives. There’s plenty of cool items from several hot toy lines, but there’s one you know is near and dear to my heart. A DC vs MOTU 2pk featuring Bizarro facing off against… Battle Armor Faker!

For a list of all the exclusives, check out this link at ToyArk.Com.

Here’s the parts specific to Battle Armor Faker:

Toys“R”Us Exclusive San Diego Comic-Con DCU vs. MOTU- Bizarro vs. Battle Armor Faker from Mattel®
Combining two beloved franchises, DC Universe Classics vs. Masters of the Universe™ Classics, this “Bizarro vs. Battle Armor Faker” 2-Pack set brings iconic mirror image baddies together for the first time! Featuring a dastardly duo of villainy – The Man of Steel’s inverted nemesis and The Most Powerful Man in the Universe’s evil, robotic duplicate – fans can now battle for doppelganger supremacy of Metropolis® and Eternia®! The set contains Bizarro and Battle Armor Faker ® figures, accessories, comic book reprint packaging, as well as an exclusive mini-poster.

Now, as I’ve mentioned eleventy billion times on this site, I’ve been wanting a Battle Armor Faker since being a wee tot! At IAT, we first brought him up back in January of last year and got some positive fan response about the idea. Apparently, it was just the right kind! I’m super-excited to finally see this figure and it wouldn’t have happened without all of the fans that supported it! So, to all of our readers and any He-Fans around the world who chimed in for this figure here, at the Org, MattyCollector, or the MOTU site of your choice. Thank you.

Also a shout out to the folks at Mattel and the Four Horsemen for listening to the fans. Faker’s weapons, Battleground Teela, Keldor’s dual sword, and now Battle Armor Faker. Thanks for listening!

Exclusive Battle Armor Faker

  1. I’ve wanted a Battle Armor Faker since you brought him up last year! This is awesome! I just hope we can get it.

      1. What makes the Lion-O different? I haven’t been paying a lot of attention to the T-Cats stuff. It looks there are some new accessories, but otherwise I’m not sure.

        1. It has the base for the Claw shield and Sword of Omens and a metallic paint job.

    1. I was a little more worried at first because I thought this would be the carolina blue Bizarro, but it looks like Mattel missed out on that one.

I’m not sure on the demand, but TRU tends to make a lot of their exclusives. Hopefully, they’ll be plenty of BA Fakers to go around.

  2. For some reason all I can think of is the Final Fantasy Fanfare by the topic title…
As I said on the forum: I need Bizarro and have no BA Faker… Bi Winning! Still he needs an orange Ab piece…

If he doesn’t get it Captain Paintbrush will take care of that!

    1. Captain Paintbrush indeed! I get the super cheap we can’t swap out parts thing with these two packs, I guess – but why not do the torso orange like He-Ro?

      1. Dude, The answer is very obvious! Logistics! Although I don’t understand why didn’t they just churn out a Brown haired blue skinned orange Torso repaint of BA He-Man instead…

      2. well, a dude wearing armor needs a layer of garment between him and the armor or the metal armor will chafe his skin (and it’s hot as holy fucking hell in plate mail.) faker is a bot,,, so the skin won’t chafe, and he isn’t producing body heat either. he doesn’t need the underarmour. 🙂

  3. DUDE! You won the toy lottery!

Super Powers Mr Freeze and Battle Armor Faker! What will you try for next? Horror Cat would be awesome!

    1. Don’t forget Battle Armor Skeletor’s axe. I think that was an IAT thing too.

      1. I wouldn’t call any of them “IAT” things, He-Fans everyone wanted this stuff. It’s just that I can shout a *little* louder than most. The props on this really go out to everyone. 🙂

  4. Can we get a picture of your photoshop, Noisy? I tried searching for it, but didn’t see it. It’s not exactly like the one you wanted is it?

      1. Seeing as this is a “mock up,” I think Mattel might go out and correct that blue midriff and replace it with one of the smooth mid-toro pieces and paint it up orange. At least I hope they do! 😉

          1. With their other MOTUC/DCUC 2-packs, they have a photo of luther with a single carded Skeletor (holding a purple sword), and when they were available they had a pic of superman with the single carded He-man in the Vs. package. So even if this is from Toys R Us it could still might not be final.

  5. Well Done guys! I’m so glad to see the fans actually get a ‘win’ now and then.

but I have to say, I’m a tad more geeked they finally caved on the Skeletor’s Twin Swords thing, ya know? remember all the rather strident “we don’t have plans for that, we can’t do it because of BS reason #6, There’s no way to work the logistics into the development, blah blah” replies?

Man, I do wish I could hit SDCC…

    1. I know! Vault & I have been celebrating all day. And heck the website even crashed for a bit. LOL

The Keldor swords will be a good day. Partially because of the upfront battle with Mattel and the classicizor machine, but also for the ridiculous “200x vs” arguments with fellow collectors. Those swords are total win all around.

  6. I really want this.. I hope it isn’t too hard to get online, I fear I’ve already bogged down my one friend going with exclusive requests…

I like the lion-o and republic commandos too.. but this will be the centerpiece of it all

    1. I don’t know if it will be hard or not. There are still TRU/SDCC exclusives from last year available so the production number should be healty, but who knows? I have to have it…

  7. Congrads, guys! I’m now wondering if any of the Toys“R”Us exclusive will show up on TRU.ca?

      1. I have never ordered from TRU.ca before but CandaClassics on the org implied that international customers can’t buy products throught tru.com (unless it shows up on tru.ca in Canada’s case).

  8. This past week, I was really tempted by your review of Orange Lantern Lex Luthor to get a proper Luthor instead, as he is my favorite DC Comics villain (probably favorite comic book character ever, really) but I just can’t find it in myself to support Mattel any more.

They insult the majority of my toy collection with each sub-par 4′ inch figure and the justifications that 4′ inch figures can’t be collectibles. They insult earnest fans by blackmailing them through the Matty store. Even figures that at the beginning cost fifteen dollars more than anything on the market, before shipping, now cost twenty five dollars more than even their overpriced lines retail with insane shipping costs that rely on a service which can’t find a straight line in a box of blocks, can’t have more than an ounce of effort.

I am giving up on all six inch lines that don’t directly involve werewolves or zombies, it’s a new rule for me, and you helped me realize that I made the right choice by showing me that Mattel can’t even be bothered to repaint Bizarro so that he has his more popular (and relevant to Faker) purple costume.

    Thank you.

    1. That’s a shame. Hopefully, we’ll still have some reviews applicable to the stuff you are collecting. I hope we’ll still see you around even though we do spend an inordinate amount of time on Mattel.

      1. FWIW, I don’t really collect anything reviewed here, I just love the reviews for their own sake.

OTOH I did stumble across a Kamandi figure that had been rudely opened at Walmart, marked down to $11. As I actually had some money I pulled the trigger, so I now have my first DCU figure. I suppose this is the beginning of the end for me. 🙂

(figure was intact, had all the guns and the C&C piece and even the worthless button. Dunno why it had been opened.)

And the site is very useful! Hips were odd feeling, I feared paint on the joint, so I popped him in the freezer overnight and with a slight *POP* sound suddenly everything was working just fine! I think my reading IAT saved me from having a broken figure! Thanks!

(and he’s very concerned by something up and to the left a bit… 🙂 )

*sigh* I’m going to have to buy OMAC now, aren’t I?

          1. Yeah…$15.99 but…yeah…the local TRU…*sigh*

but I’m saving up for a Nerf chaingun! I shouldn’t get distracted!

Too bad Mattel likely won’t do much more with the world of Kamandi. I want a Ben Boxer and his teammates.

and if they get around to the The Forever People (with the C&C being their ride…it could happen!) I’m lost.

And even tho I expect the Legion 12-pack to be a trainwreck I still want it.

            AARRGGH! 🙂

  9. I got neither one of these guys so this 2pk is perfect for me. Having Faker come with battle armor just sweetens the deal! I don’t care for packaging but this one is pure eye candy.

    1. The MOTU/DC packaging hasn’t been cool since the first two. The art on this one looks cool small, but the bigger shot on the back, not so much.

  10. Bizarro AND Battle Armor Faker? Win!

Excuse my ignorance, but when did Mattel announce Skeletor’s swords? How are they being released?

    1. We don’t have specifics yet, but on one of TG’s State of the MOTU announcements, he said that the swords were finally approved through mgmt. I’m hoping we see them here at SDCC.

    1. I’d take you up on that except I live on the other side of the world! (Assuming you’re in the US.) Good luck finding someone to share with! 😉

    2. Hell, mate, if I can get one, I’ll take you up on that offer! Living in rural England, though, my chances of getting exclusives which are only sold over 4,000 miles away is almost zilch. I could always turn to that new-fangled electrical internet thingy, but it’s a bit of a crap-shoot; sometimes I can bag exclusives, sometimes I never stand a chance.

But I’ll let you know if all goes well.

  11. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

If I can’t get one of these, I’m going to be one sad mammajamma.

  12. Just wanted to let folk know that the 2 pack is up over at TRU.com!!! So get it while you can…
