Marvel Legends Spider-
Man: Hobgoblin Series Daredevil Review

Paint is barely worth mentioning, but what’s here is good. The logo is crisp and the chin is painted spot-on with sharp lines (Batman/Mattel could take lessons). The subtle red on the eyes really works. The only improvement here would be the gloves. I don’t need a forearm swivel here, but that would make this perfect, match the boots, and not have the scratches in the paint on the forearms.

Alright, now the only thing I don’t like about the figure. The billy club. It looks good. The two pieces can connect or be held separately (no connecting rope though) and fit snugly in the harness. They look slightly oversized there, but no biggie. No, the problem is that they’re eraser level soft. I don’t know how Daredevil can meet out justice with movie props. He does hold them well, but kinda makes me wish I’d kept any of the accessories from all those Daredevil figures I sold to get here. Oh, and there are some Hobgoblin parts. I’ve united another collector with those already, so no pics. Daredevil includes the left arm and a clear pumpkin bomb for the BAF.

Overall though? I love this figure. The buck is a great starting point, the specific Daredevil bits finish it off (I love the head sculpt) and the paint and articulation completes the package. The only thing I’d really change is those gosh darn billy clubs. This finally has to be the one. I’ve got it. No more upgrades or updates for me. Unless they finally make Armored Daredevil in Legends scale. I’d be all over that.

  1. I’m with you on the previous DDs. I think this is the 4th or 5th one I own, but it blows the rest out of the water. Fingers crossed for a yellow repaint! And armored!

  2. God help me, I’d buy an entire armored wave: DD-armor, Cap-armor, Spidey-armor, Thor-armor…There’s got to be a couple others. Maybe a suited Tony Stark for balance.

  3. Ha, Goo! Might as well though right since there’s soo damn many of those armored looks to capture for all time in palstic.

Gotta’ get this one, even though I like the Face-Off version just fine thank you.

  4. It may be a moot point, as I haven’t seen a DD and am not holding my breath for one, but from what I’ve seen in pics, I think I like the previous Hasbro ML Daredevil better. The build was a bit more athletic, less beefy, in a way that suits the character better. It also has more sculpted detail. Wit ha logo like DD’s that’s a big point towards making the logo look any good. The boots and gloves were also sculpted to look like leather or something more substantial, versus the two-tone tights of this figure.

Of course, as big of a DD fan as I am, I might end up getting the new version if I ever see it (plus I do want to build the Hobgoblin figure).

I’m with you on hoping that some tweaks are made for the TV suit in season 2. I was so jazzed for the big reveal, and didn’t spoil myself before watching the show, but that was a let down. It was so generic and blah. Take off the horns, you wouldn’t even be able to identify it as Daredevil. They should have at least kept the neck and shoulder area all red, instead of making it half black (with shiny metal buttons. Those were distracting). And why’d they spend half the season hyping up that Gladiator had developed a way of making body armor that looked and moved like fabric if the final costume was going to end up being the same immobile blend of nylon, leather, and plastic that’s been the norm since the first X-Men movie?

  5. Just from the look, I think those batons are the same as what Hellcat has. If they are, the black plastic seems to be a tad more firm. I gave them to my Black Widow because she ain’t got no firearms. And it kinda sorta gives her the ‘Age Of Ultron’ look.

I don’t really care for Daredevil but man, I think I’ve got the bug now. Might need to get him.

Noisy, did you snag the S.H.I.E.L.D. 3-pack? It’s decent. All I need now is a movie Thor and Hawkeye.

And of course a whole Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. set… 🙂

  6. yup, my Hellcat’s batons are a bit firmer, and that seems to be the general consensus for those who have both. many have already traded them around, or at least she gave hers up to DD.

This buck is nice for DD, but I still say that Batroc could have been beefier. I seem to recall him drawn a bit more muscular in the handful of appearances I read of his?

as for favorite DD, the unmasked Matt head is great, but I still kept my TB SMC version (with rooftop base) in my display after the Nemesis wave DDs hit. Decent sculpt and hit the right shade of red for me.

  7. This is the one fig of the wave I have not seen here. On my get list though. A fun review indeed.
