Club 200x is a Go!

Sam had a rough night last night, so I don’t have a review today, but there was some big, if not unexpected, news that came out yesterday: Club 200x is a go! Here is the latest from Mattel:

CLUB 200X UPDATE: From the Desk of Skeletor’s Love Child…

I know you guys have been waiting with bated breath for the final results of the sub drive so let’s get into it. I have some good news and some bad news.

The bad news….we have to wait 3.5 months for July to arrive so the first figure in the COMPLETE 200X sub can be mailed out.

CONGRATULATIONS PEOPLE OF ETERNIA, YOU DID IT!!!

Coming in at a whopping 99.9% (and honestly let’s just call it what it is: 100%), the sub passed with flying colors. I personally want to thank everyone who participated in the sub drive from the bottom of my tiny blue heart, your contributions are appreciated and recognized whether you purchased one sub or 100. You guys are the ONLY reason this happened; never let it be said that there is not power in the voice of the people.

Have an amazing Tuesday and if there is a point in your day where you may find yourself feeling down just remember: EVERYONE GETS A PRAHVUS!

Calix: 7/15
Evilseed: 8/15
Ceratus: 10/15

Note: Grizzlor will have a full head in the pack.

  1. I’ve been dying for a 200X Evilseed since Orko’s Garden first aired back in 2003. If it had come this close and didn’t make it, I would have had to kick someone in the throat.

Someone mentioned on the Facebook thread that this is a sub that went through without constant begging, threats of cancellation, and”thermimeters of doom” bearing down on us, and everyone should be happy about what a refreshing change of pace that is. And that is absolutely true. This post-ToyGuru era is lovely. Shame it couldn’t have happened sooner.

  2. I’m super happy this made it to production, and was pretty pessimistic that it wouldn’t. I also hope that every elitist MO2K hater sees this as a middle finger towards their ridiculous selfishness. I would’ve been happy with just a MYP Roboto head, instead I get a bunch more of the MO2K in addition (though truthfully, I’d’ve loved MYP Rattlor, Tung Lashor and Teela versions, among other things…but I’ll take what I can get).

        1. I’m a pretty a staunch vintage guy, that’s where my heart is. That said, these are some gorgeous figures and I am happy that I subscribed. I recognize 200x and that it helped flesh out aspects of MOTU and add to the overall lore. I will also say this, I certainly feel more confident about subscribing to Club 200x than I did about Club Etheria. With Etheria I subscribed basically to ensure myself a Madam Razz and to get my hands on Light Hope — I am glad I did subscribe however.

  3. So thrilled for this. I signed up for three subs, not only for the figures themselves and to support the brand in general and make sure the sub went through, but there’s so much custom potential in these. Various-coloured rock men. Containment-shell Evilseed. Millennial Sorceress. Kulataks. Caligars, including a use for my Millennial Whiplash head. Prahvus’ hench-thugs. And less-goofy looking heads for Buzz-Off and Clawful, plus a non-disintegrating trunk for Snout Spout.

    Out. Filthyword. Staning.

      1. Thank ‘e, mate, but don’t go holding your breath. I’m ridiculously far behind, with a lot of half-finished projects gathering dust. How far behind am I? Still trying to figure out how to make a soft goods cape for Scare Glow!

        1. I’d actually be super interested in a soft goods cape for SG. I’ve never had a preference for one either way, but there are a few figures I wish had soft capes, SG being one of them.

          1. They did a bang-up job on the 1987 one, which makes me wonder how well they could’ve done it with today’s technology. I’ve managed to track down the right kind of fabric for the cape, if not the collar. Now it’s mainly a cade of figuring out the pattern for the collar, then melding the two.

      1. Now is a good time to start. I just got my Q1 shipment last week, and it really feels like this new team has stepped up the quality on these guys. The price hurts, as always, but I feel like I’m at least seeing what that money gets me.

        1. It’s the prices that are putting me off. I kow I would start with just favourite vintage figures but then that would go into core characters then of course just plain cool figures like these.

            1. At 40GBP per figureit’s hard to justify. I started collecting Marvel Select figures about two years ago and said I would only get my favourites but inside a few months I had nearly all of them.

  4. what fascinates me is how cleverly constructed this lot are, you’ve got a set of really unique looking characters made with only the maximum of interchangeable pieces that a new figure so far as had – look at that Kulatak: new feet, new armor piece, new loincloth, new forearms, head and hands and we get that, that’s the about the same as Snout Spout!

  5. My first ever sub after being a long time cherry picker. Every figure is a winner…

  6. I’m not a particular fan of 200x figures because I’ve never watched any episode, but I have to say every figure is outstanding, so I bought 2 subs.
The only thing I hated about it is that head pack. I hate extra heads because I’m a completist and now I have to buy all those figures again, and everyone knows Roboto’s price. I would prefer another exclusive figure like Light Hope. Apart from my issue, they look amazing too.
I love those mini subs and I will buy all of them, that’s the only way to increase our collection and bring new awesome figures to every MOTUC’s fans.

    1. The mini-sub system does work pretty well. Considering this is the fourth one they’ve done (30th Anniv, Club Filmation, Club Etheria, and Club 200x). It’s a way to work in some niche characters that might not have much demand elsewhere.
