DC Collectibles Capullo Series Batman Wave 2 & TAS Harley Quinn!

DC Collectibles released their January/February solicits this week. A number of fun items are featured: more Scribblenauts figures, some great statues, figures from Arrom, etc.. What caught my attention though was a third wave of the Greg Capullo designer series:

DC COMICS DESIGNER ACTION FIGURES SERIES 3: BY GREG CAPULLO ZERO YEAR BATMAN, BATGIRL, TWO-FACE AND COMMISSIONER GORDON
Based on the designs from the best-selling artist of BATMAN, Greg Capullo, comes the wave 3 in the hit Designer Series from DC Collectibles.
EACH FIGURE SOLD SEPARATELY
$24.95 US • ON SALE FEBRUARY 2015
* Action Figure * Allocations May Occur
COMNISSIONER GORDON – 6.6″
TWO-FACE – 6.6″
ZERO YEAR BATMAN – 6.75″
BATGIRL – 6.5″

I was a big fan of Wave 1, notably the Batman & Talon I reviewed here at IAT. The second wave was of little interest. The armored Batman might be a cool toy, Catwoman looked good, but I’ve never totally loved the newer costume. Red Hood & Mr. Freeze weren’t on my radar. Wave 3 is in-between with what looks like a nice Two-Face & Gordon (though I’d really want to repaint the hair white!) and a good Batgirl figure. Zero Year Batman is fun too, but not a must buy for me.

Finally, not in the solicits, but mixed in the images for upcoming SDCC reveals was an update to TAS Harley Quinn!

My personal jury is still out on what I’ll buy from this 6″ Animated line, but it looks enticing…

  1. Batman looks goofy with modern ribbing and purple gloves.
    Batgirl looks nice.
    Gordon looks good.
Two-Face…has a three button jacket??? how about NO. OCD requires 2 buttons!
Harley is nice but what I was saying about rebuying figures in another line/scale? yeah, no.

    1. Harley’s picture was in the photo dump, but her info has not been in the solicit. I think we got an accidental sneak peak and we’ll see her at SDCC.

  2. The Animated line is a curious one. I await a review to make final verdict but this Harley is a buy no matter what. Just a fan of Harley. The real deal Dini/Timm design. The game likenesses are growing on me as I play though.

Gordan would probably be my only pick here. Just not a nu52 fan.

    1. I’m not sure on the Animated line either. It’s going to depend on plastic quality and articulation. I can see buying certain ones for sure, but not all of them.

    1. Nope, there giant like all DCD. Here’s the Wv 2 Solicits:

      1. Gosh, that’s a lot of accessories! What the hell kind of spiritual experience did these people have that they’ve gone from the occasional batarang to multiple hands and make-up sponges?! (Not that I’m complaining, it just seems so wildly out of character.) And huzzah for the additional Man-Bat wings!

I can’t resist the one nitpick though – no plant accessories for Ivy? Tsk.

      2. Hey Noisy, thanks for posting the full list of accessories that will be included with wave 2! Do you, by any chance, have the list of accessories for wave 1? The only ones I’ve heard about are Mr. Freezes robot legs, and a gun, coin and mask for Two Face.

I’m blown away by the amount of cool episode specific stuff DCC is including with these figures. I’m definitely planning on being a completist for this line. Here’s hoping they eventually branch out to the other Bruce Timm cartoons, like Batman Beyond!

  3. The articulation looks like it’s been scaled back on these. After owning Superwoman, I know DCC can do Marvel Legends-level stuff.

  4. MS – The Batman line is 6 inch, same as DCUC, ML etc.

Still waiting to see what kind of posing can be done with the BTAS line. I might pass if all the can do it look the same in and out of the packaging.

    1. I quite like the costume, though I preferred the earlier issues with the purple-lined cape. Batgirl’s one of the few Nu52 titles I’ve kept up with – but it took a long time for me to stop holding the erasure of Oracle against it and appreciate it for the book it is. (Speaking of my meagre Nu52 reading list, I’m still patiently awaiting a decent Batwoman…)
