But wait, there’s more! Spy Monkey Creations chose Powercon to debut their newest line: Weaponeers of Monkaa! Weaponeers expands on SMC’s fantastic Armory Series and elevates the company to a full-fledged action figure producer. Here’s a quick look at the reveals and lots of links.
SMC first announced Weaponeers of Monkaa a few days prior to the show and launched a new site that featured several chapters of story to familiarize us with the characters and their back stories.
After the show debuted, the first look at the figures leaked out via this Instagram pics from George Gaspar via his Twitter.

SMC also sent out some early review samples. I’ll have a review of these guys here at IAT in the next few days, but two great sites are already on the ball! Phil Reed of Battlegrip.com already has two great quick looks and DocRampageo of DoomKick.com is the first reviewer out of the gate with this great review!

The first series of Weaponeers of Monkaa will be comprised of the following;
4 key characters in the struggle of good versus evil:
• Empyreus – Heroic Leader of the Gearo
• Palidar – Fearless Commander of the Gearo Forces
• Umbreus – Evil Overlord of the Vilhain
• Brutok – Ruthless General of the Vilhain HordesEach character figure features painted accents, detail lines, and a removable tampo printed faction symbol. Each figure is made up of 25-28 interchangeable parts including a sword and a sickle weapon and interchangeable head/hand/weapon accessories. Each figure comes with a trading card featuring fully painted artwork, bios and details on each character. $12.00 each.
Series one will also include two incredible Gohlem, Elemental Warriors that make up the Gearo and Vilhain forces:
• Crystal Gohlem
• Magma GohlemEach translucent Gohlem figure features painted accents and two interchangeable faction symbols to allow you to choose a side for your Gohlem. Each Gohlem figure is made up of 29 interchangeable parts including a sword and a sickle weapon and interchangeable head/hand/weapon accessories. Gohlems also include alternate translucent Empyreus and Umbreus heads. Each figure comes with a trading card featuring fully painted artwork, bios and details on each character. $12.00 each.

These dudes are like Battle Beasts combined with Transformers by way of Micronauts. The line’s got such a great 80’s vibe going that should prove irresistible for a lot of folks out there. You guys rock, SMC!

i’ll be interested to see more builds… forgive the various guys already doing custom builds w/ these, but i don’t know if i’ve seen the “wow factor” yet, and i predict it’s there. i don’t know though, maybe i’m being too picky.
I’ll definitely be at least picking up Palidar and the weapon packs corresponding to his colorway.

Very nifty line with boatlaods of potential! *Sigh* Shame I can’t serously commit to sweet new properties like this.
If I wasn’t tied up with so many other lines and gearing up for the big year-end blitzes that Hasbro, Mattel, and Takara are so fond of, I’d consider collecting this whole line. As it is, I’ll probably restrict myself to the odd weapons pack or two.
hopefully their sales model will be a little more forgiving… i know onell does various “drops” of glyos that are never offered again — or the matty “sold out” at 12:07pm” sales. as long as people keep orderin’ them and they keep makin’ them i don’t think there is any big rush to get them all now — the end of the year pushes are kind of insane —
I have zero artistic talent but these toys make me feel like I have a shot at least lol, I have been having a blast building figures, taking them apart and doing it all over again.
Anyone on the fence should at least get 1 or 2 and just try them out.
Also, I gotta say that artwork is awesome! Definite homage to early Transformers art!
Can’t say I care about the figures all that much, but I really want to see how the Close Combat armory sets look when integrated into the other armory pieces! We need new weapon builds!
it’s a shame they don’t seem to include the torso piece with the translucent figures that the others seem to have (I know it’s a character thing but the option would be nice)
