Funko’s Legacy Line: The
Game (of Thrones) is Afoot!

So, maybe “retro” just isn’t your thing. Maybe you’re like me and have this sprawling collection of 6″ figures about ten feet from your sitting. Funko, in their apparent bid to conquer the toy universe, hasn’t forgotten you. Though they probably didn’t want to let you know that until next week….

See, eBay was quite the news source this weekend (that new Leader-Class Jetfire is amazing!) thanks to a few early auctions revealing some pre-NTYF news. Now, we already knew that Funko was going ahead with Legacy and that Game of Thrones & Firefly would be among the first figures, but what we didn’t know was just how well done they would be:

If the goal was to be on par with Star Wars Black, then even these early samples would appear to say that goal was met. These are still a couple months out (I think so, anyway), but they look sharp here and I can’t wait for even better pics from Toy Fair! That includes pics of Tyrion! (you might note that No. 2 is missing from the line-up in the pics above).

With Hasbro churning out some great MLs & Star Wars Black, and NECA making a killing on some of the biggest 80s franchies, it’s a pretty great time to be a 6″ collector!

  1. As always Mezco’s head sculpts are awful… just check the Sons of Anarchy ones… too bad these figures are not Neca’s ate least they would be more acurate

  2. Better dig out those Boromirs dusted off for the eventual review! and his head better be removable! 😉

I’d like to see all three Baratheon brothers and a set of Dire Wolves, or at least 2pks of Ghost and Nymeria, then Summer and Shaggydog. One mold, four figures!
    and, of course: HODOR!

ooh, maybe they could have a CnC Joffrey split between Cersei, Jaime, and Robert??

  3. I think I may get a few of these… Ned, Tyrion, Daeneris and he who knows nothing.
Hopefully future waves will have Arya, Sansa and Joffrey.

  4. They look cool but the head sculpts are a bit off. Daenerys in particular looks nothing like the actress.

These totally remind me of the TB LOTR line, awesome detail, cool figures, but the likenesses just enough off the mark to be a problem.

    1. not all the likenesses are good, but come on… the Hound is spot on man. daenerys, well, yes, that figure could represent a boatload of women who look nothing like emilia clarke

i’m pulling for robert baratheon, the Mountain, Arya, Brienne, khal drogo, tyrion and bronn… and if we got a handless jamie, that’d be cool too. and maybe jaqen h’ghar, with interchangable face plates… that’d be fresh.

      1. I guess I should’ve said the overall execution of the heads, including the paint ops.

On a second look, The Hound looks on the better end of the spectrum sculpt-wise, but the paint is throwing it off.

I know these aren’t Hot Toys, but I’ve always been picky about that crap, like I say I was a picky bastard way back in the TB LOTR days!! 😀

        1. OK, I partially take that back. Saw the in-hand pics at the Fwoosh, and these are definitely pretty dang solid!

  5. The hound looks great, the rest IMHO are awful in the head department. The paint job on tyrion I saw at the fwoosh looked awful for the beard. My friend picked up a hound at Barnes and nobles and also criticized the plastic that was used. Hopefully its just some beginner issues for funko and that you guys get the figures you want. I know my friend was disappointed but he is also picky so.

  6. Game of Thrones is one of those shows I’ve been meaning for a while to finally sit down and watch from the beginning (I’ve seen a couple random episodes, and while they were highly entertaining, it was quite apparent that I was missing a lot of information to truly connect to the story).

So, I have no connection to the characters, per se, other than I think the blond girl with the dragons is weirdly hot. But the figures look damn good. Now imagine if these turn out as well as they seem they might, and then the 4H do the Legion line in 1/12 scale.
