Ask Matty – August 15th Edition

DCClassics.Com Asks: Did the Death staction have enough of an impact that Mattel will look into moving forward in that scale?

It did very well, but how and if this line will continue has not been decided.

MOTUClassics.Com Asks: We know that Granamyr can’t stand on his own, but how tall/long is the figure from head to toe?

Over 30 inches.

MOTUClassics.Com Asks: Rattlor’s MO2K Armor was cut due to the paint apps needed on the figure, is there any plan to get that armor back out to collectors?

We hope to find a way some day.

DCClassics.Com Asks: Will Batman & DC Unlimited be released in solid assortments (like DC Classics) or will it feature mixed case assortments (as was discussed for DC All-Stars)?

Mixed cases.

DCClassics.Com Asks: For collectors looking to budget, how many waves/assortments is Mattel planning for the Batman & DC Unlimited retail lines in the next few months?

We are not ready to announce that yet as we need to align with retailers first.

Editor’s Note: The triumvirate “Matty Justice League” answered a similar question yesterday on the Mattel forums. The response to that answer was decidely less vague: “We are planning a total of 12 figs in the Batman Unlimited line and 10 in the DC Comics Unlimited line for 2013”.

With only 10 figures being released in the second half of this year and only 22 (so far) on tap for next year, DC Collectors can probably skip a few toy hunts for the forseeable future.

We need your questions for the next round!

  1. Mixed Cases!? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
that means I may never see the Batmite with technicolor Batman or MOTUC Batman!!

  2. I didn’t even know Rattlor was supposed to include his Millennium armor. Now I may need to pick him up in the case we do get armor.

    1. Well, it’s nice to know they want to wrangle it in somewhere, possibly a future Weapons Pak like they did with the “cut” weapons this year. I hope they’d include snap-on vambraces and his Millennial-colours serpent staff as well! Man, it’s fun thinking of all the stuff that could be included in Weapons Paks.

    2. I do hope they opt for another color than neon green for that snake head in the middle though. :p

  3. Sometimes, I can’t figure out if these Q&A’s are really as bad as I think they are or if I just know so much more now than I did when I first got into this.

  4. They’re really hammering the “figures cost more than fans will pay” button over on Elkkthunder. Expect to hear a lot about how fans just aren’t willing to support the line anymore when your favorite Mattycollector line gets the axe.

    1. Too bad we won’t be getting Bubastis with Ozymandias. I would be alright with Dr. Manhattan and Silk Spectre not having accessories in order to get him.

      1. Right? Bubastis is too big, but Cringer sure wasn’t…=-/

Manhattan isn’t even coming with any accessories, and I doubt Silk Spectre will either. I can’t imagine any accessories the two of them even need. But Ozy needs Bubastis, Rorschach needs his grapple gun, and Nite Owl needs some gadgets.

  5. Bubastis could have been a CnC with the six figures. After all the Watchmen was a done deal, they could have sprung for the extras.

    1. Or even the club exclusive…considering there isn’t one, I wouldn’t mind paying for a club exclusive Bubastis.

They could have had a giant version of Dr. Manhattan as a C&C.
