Vault Review: Cheerful Japan
Miku Hatsune (Figma #114)

Miku has the common swivel/hinge Figma joints on each ponytail, her neck, elbows, knees and ankles.  Her shoulders are swivel/hinges connected to a ball joint, while her hips are ball joints.  Her wrists are swivel/hinge pin joints.  She does have a waist joint, but it’s extremely limited by her design and I don’t even want to move it for fear it might break.  I was also a bit disappointed to discover she didn’t have swivel joints where her boots cut off on her thighs.  Without them, certain leg positions look a bit awkward.

Like the original Miku, she comes with a Mic stand with removable microphone, and two leeks.  These are all great accessories and you’ll probably see them popping up as props in future reviews.  She also comes with the basic Figma stand.

For her exclusives, they also included an orange flag with the words “Cheerful Japan” on it and a set of orange pompoms.  The pompoms are interesting because they have swivel/hinge pin joints and are meant to replace the hands.

Miku comes with five sets of alternate hands: fists, holding, pointing, open flat, and splayed fingers.  She also has two alternate faces that came with the original figure, one closed mouth and the other open.  Then there’s her third exclusive “cheering” face with her mouth open and eyes squinting.

Orders for this figure were taken and paid for in May, so I’ve been waiting on her for a while now.  She was also a bit more expensive than the average Figma, but that’s not such a big deal considering the extra money goes to charity.  I feel like Good Smile came up with a pretty inventive solution on how to help alleviate a terrible situation.  I definitely wouldn’t mind seeing more acts like this from the toy industry.

  1. Great review! Loved all the pics. Yeah, I was really happy when GSC announced Figma Miku in their cheerful Japan line, because the secondary market prices for a legit (not bootleg) Figma Miku were crazy.

It would be nice to see other toy companies do this sort of thing. Maybe not Matty tho…. Might get too crazy.

    1. Thanks. I’m glad she came back up too. I wasn’t going to pay those secondary market prices.

I think Hasbro might try something like this before Matty though.

  2. Nice review, nice to know they fixed the flaws… I wonder if there’s some online store to buy it directly and not auction sites were the founds doesn’t go to the Tsunami…

    1. I think you’ll have to go with a secondary store or auction site since the figures were made to order.

  3. Please stop reviewing figma figures!!!! They are very cool, well made, and I cannot afford to start collecting another toy line. Thank you. Then again, with the DC All-stars offering looking as bad as it does and perfect fro cherry picking, maybe I do have a budget. Darn you Noisy!!!!!

  4. Are her panties striped? I know it’s a bit of an odd question, but Most Miku stuff I’ve seen her striped panties can be seen… I need to find better folks to hang out with… then again I proudly display scantily clad muscular men in furry loincloths…

    1. I didn’t even think about that until you mentioned it. I wonder why they decided not to stripe them?
