The pictures tonight aren\u2019t quite up to par due to a technical glitch. I figured I\u2019d go ahead and post the review anyway, my apologies. This review also won\u2019t feature any real spoilers that I\u2019m unaware of\u2026 as I still haven\u2019t seen Captain America: Civil War. Oops! I know, I should turn in my nerd card. My wife & I have just been bad about getting a babysitter for the Sam-bug and going out to the theater. I think we\u2019ll be making a more concentrated effort during Giant Man Week. Seems only right.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

Since I haven\u2019t seen the film, I can\u2019t really speak to much about T\u2019Challa in the film. I do know that he seems pretty accurate to the comics and that he nearly steals the show. More importantly for a toy collector, I also know that he\u2019s got a kickass costume that\u2019s well translated to action figure form here by Hasbro for their Marvel Legends line. The cinematic figures have become a favorite part of the ML line for me in recent years. We\u2019ve been running quite a deficit on some characters, so I\u2019m extra happy that Black Panther was selected right out of the gate.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

Black Panther has had a couple of comic figures in the line before, but I ended up selling both. The first because it was done on this weird sandpaper textured body and the second because of the white\/blue highlight overspray (though the sculpt was fantastic). This Black Panther surpasses both of those easily. The detail work to get the costume right is amazing. The texture on the base costume is so fine that you have to almost strain to see it. And the layering and piping up from there appears to be pretty accurate to the film. He looks just as sharp as the character in the movie and that already puts it up pretty high on the list of my favorite Marvel Legends.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

The figure is even striking despite being basically mono-chromatic color scheme. The silver highlights could be a little less sloppy overall, but the figure looks good cast in all black with the just the little bit of paint to get it right. Maybe I\u2019m just beyond thrilled that there isn\u2019t an overspray for effect. It gives me more hope that the next eventual Black Spidey won\u2019t have that either. The articulation is what we\u2019ve come to expect, though it\u2019s not quite to the same standard. There are ball-joints at the neck, shoulders, wrists, hips, and inverted ankles; double hinges at the knees & elbows; swivels at the biceps, waist, and thighs; and the ab crunch. The missing standard is that the range isn\u2019t there on all the joints. The hips are shorted like normal, but so is the neck on this figure. And worse still is the shoulders. Due to limited range, we\u2019re just simply not going to be able to put his arms down to his sides. Icky.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

In addition to the Giant-Man leg, T\u2019Challa includes an unmasked head. It\u2019s tough to ignore! I\u2019ll need to see more of the actor, but I like the face sculpt and think it\u2019s pretty accurate. The paint on mine is well done too so it just looks great overall. My natural inclination is to keep the masked head on, but the figure looks great with either head and makes it a tougher call than we\u2019re normally used to having.<\/p>\n

Overall, Black Panther is a fun figure. I\u2019d like a little more range on the joints \u2013 he\u2019s an acrobat characters, so I want him to move like the recent Spidey figures and he doesn\u2019t quite. The sculpt is rock solid though with decent paint and a great unsmasked head accessory. I think he\u2019s easily the star of the wave and if he\u2019s as cool in the movie as everyone says\u2026 well, this might be a pretty in demand figure when all is said and done. I’m sure happy to have him already. Bring on Falcon, Hasbro!<\/p>\n
