<\/a>When you\u2019re a Club Eternia subscription holder, you generally want (or at least are willing to purchase) 100% of what Mattel put outs for Masters of the Universe Classics; to avoid having to go to the website month-to-month to order the latest items. To rest easy and let the products flow. Well, that was the idea anyway. I think I got five whole months last year where I didn\u2019t have to go to Mattycollector, purchase something manually, and pay double shipping that month. (About 70% of 2013 items were included in the subscription). <\/p>\n

I\u2019m not bitter. In actuality, I would be happiest if the other 30% were included in the subscription too. No fretting over convention exclusives or fear of forgetting when one of the items goes on sale. No crazy dash for online \u201cChase\u201d figures released randomly (who still thinks that\u2019s a great idea?). <\/p>\n

Anyway, I say all this as a collector who completely forgot that April 15th was my easiest chance to pick up Goat Man, Loo-Kee, & Kowl until the end of the year. Doh. I remembered about two hours later, but it was too late. They should be offered again in EA towards the end of the year, but I\u2019m really bad at waiting. Luckily, friend, brilliant reader, and Fwoosh Contributor fireball13z<\/a> snagged an extra Goat Man for those foolish like myself and hooked me up for this very review. Thank you! <\/p>\n

When Goat Man was announced last year, I did partake in the collective \u201cwho?\u201d. Goat Man has the humblest of beginnings, appearing in only one story: a Golden Super Adventure Book titled, Secrets of the Dragon\u2019s Egg. He only appears on a handful of pages, gets tricked by a horse, and takes a sucker punch from Fisto. That\u2019s pretty much it. That\u2019s almost<\/em> more embarrassing then his bio saying his real name is Klacky. <\/p>\n

The issue is available online at He-Man.Org<\/a>, though in the synopsis, the writer trashes Goat Man \u2013 and takes a cheap shot at Snout Spout \u2013 indicating happiness that Goat Man was not given a figure. Well, the jokes on you, nameless He-Man.Org contributor! Cause Goat Man has finally come into his own. <\/p>\n

Goat Man features a decent chunk of new parts to get his signature look not only down, but thankfully updated with a little more detail. The forearms and thighs are new to get the bracers and bondage thigh gear represented appropriately. We\u2019ve also got some swanky new armor and a new noggin. The only bad part here is the armor and it\u2019s that same stupid Mattel mistake again: having the clasps on the sides. Mattel has stated they\u2019re aware and working on this \u2013 but that simply going back to what they were doing 2-3 years ago is difficult. While I like the overall sculpting work on the armor fine \u2013 the leather texture and studs are a nice touch, it\u2019s just hard to love with all that bulk. <\/p>\n

The new noggin\u2019 is probably one of the nicest parts of the figure. I wish his expression were a little more menacing \u2013 he just looks a tad bewildered. I think that would\u2019ve helped to cover up the costume look the figure has. We know from the bio that Goat Man is truly part animal. He\u2019s not a guy in a goat mask, but man the figure looks like it! Some red paint on the neck, or trying to blend the colors together a little more (As was done with Clawful, another guy-in-a-suit figure) would\u2019ve helped the figure tremendously. I do like him, but I just am left wanting a little more after having had him out of the package for a few days. Continue to Page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

The articulation is what we\u2019ve come to except for the line, no surprises or novelty here. Paint was similarly sharp throughout the figure with crisp lines. The mouth and eyes were especially done well; the teeth look fantastic. <\/p>\n

Goat Man included two accessories. The staff of Avion! Yes, again. While our buddy Icer brought us the Filmation staff, Goat Man has the comic version! Props to Mattel for getting both versions released and, even better, ensuring Stratos can actually hold this one! It\u2019s a nice translucent green and looks pretty snazzy. Stratos could even get posed with it, had I had any room left to display accessories. My MOTU shelves are getting tight after all these years! <\/p>\n

The other accessory is sweet: a hammer. Goat Man had no time to gear up in his book appearance, so this is an original accessory and it\u2019s fantastic. It\u2019s well fabricated and looks great with just about any figure. I fear Goat Man won\u2019t be keeping it for long\u2026 <\/p>\n

Overall, I\u2019m pretty happy with Goat Man. I don\u2019t hold the armor clasps against him as that\u2019s Mattel being Mattel. I do wish some changes had been put into blending him as a beast-man hybrid a little more instead of just going for the Halloween look, but I can\u2019t argue that this guy looks like he fits right in with Skeletor\u2019s minions. Once you put him among the swelled ranks, he just chills like he should. <\/p>\n

If you missed out on Goat Man he will be available at various conventions throughout the year and then should be up again on EA towards the end of the year if there is remaining stock. It\u2019s cool for Mattel to offer them up at the end like that, but I do applaud Mattel for also putting him up early this month. I hate waiting. Not enough to remember to order on time, apparently, but enough. <\/p>\n
