<\/a> So we kicked off the week with Black Cat. Y\u2019all ate up Vault\u2019s Cupcake Shop review. Can we do a whole week featuring girl figures or girl toys? I\u2019m not quite sure what we can pull off for Thursday & Friday, but today will be a healthy dose of pink in the form of a Mighty Morphin\u2019 Power Ranger! This is another review I\u2019ve been sitting on for awhile (I think I picked it up in November), though I\u2019m not sure why it\u2019s taken so long. <\/p>\n

I\u2019m looking at this figure, and I think I\u2019m having review block. I think I know why I haven’t reviewed it…<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t believe in review block really, but I find that I\u2019ve just not got much to say about the Pink Ranger. There\u2019s the obvious \u2013 we all had a crush on her, didn\u2019t we? I did. There\u2019s the trivia \u2013 Amy Jo Johnson was the only one of the five original Rangers not to leave amid rumors of pay disputes (she just plum wanted to move on). There\u2019s the interesting \u2013 she\u2019s never appeared at a Power Rangers convention (this year will be her first). And there\u2019s the debatable \u2013 she\u2019s probably been the most successful of the group, going on to star in other shows over the years. Can you tell I\u2019m really stretching here? We might get some back-to-back pictures on this one, boys. <\/p>\n

The Pink Ranger is probably an all-new sculpt. It is possible that she could reuse pieces from previous Figuarts Rangers, but I\u2019ve been told by multiple people that Bandai doesn\u2019t really take that opportunity on that side of the Pacific (though I\u2019m sure she\u2019ll share parts with the Yellow Ranger). It all seems to strange to me, but the figures are surely better for it. <\/p>\n

If the Pink Ranger seems short in some of the upcoming group pics, that\u2019s because she is \u2013 Amy Jo Johnson is only 5\u2019 2\u201d and the figure is pretty accurate in comparison to Jason (though Tommy should be taller and isn\u2019t \u2013 some part reuse rears its head!). Like previous releases, all the costume details are sculpted on and match up well to the source material. One neat little thing was the skirt does have slits on the sides and they overlap just a tad so that if the skirt is stretched in a pose, it will still \u201clook\u201d right. That\u2019s pretty cool. <\/p>\n

The paint work has been sharp on all my Figuarts so far. I think the only area where things get a little sloppy are the diamond patterns on the boots and gloves, but everything is well within reason, particularly when compared to some domestic releases. I also want to shout out again the smart use of matte and gloss finishes between the clothes and helmet. That has made each of the figures really pop!<\/p>\n

As with previous releases \u2013 y\u2019know I keep saying that. Maybe that\u2019s why I\u2019m having trouble, it\u2019s not really a repaint, but it totally feels like it! I mean, you can\u2019t knock it. This is completely what we want \u2013 what we need \u2013 for a proper Rangers display, but I feel like I\u2019m reviewing Rainbow Lanterns all over again. Anyway, articulation is what we\u2019ve come to expect with the line. Great range just about everywhere: ball-joints at the top and bottom of the neck, the wrists & ankles, and the upper torso & the waist, the ball-joints on the hinge in the shoulders & hips, double-hinges on the elbows & knees, articulated toes, bicep and thigh swivels. Prety much, all the articulation form before, but on a girl figure and in pink. Though, and it may be just be crazy me, but I feel like the bicep swivels have better range on this one than my Red & Green Rangers. And, oppositely, I feel like the shoulder covers for that odd ball-jointed hinge get in the way a lot more on this figure too. It’s nothing bad, but it was more annoying to spin those around than it had been on figures past. <\/p>\n

I have mixed feelings on the accessories. There\u2019s some cool stuff, the usual mix of hands \u2013 including an awesome one with a molded arrow. Normally, molded accessories are bad. But on an alternate hand? Totally Awesome. It lets Kimberly pose with the bow and arrow convincingly. There are also fists, semi-open hands, fully-open hands, and the aforementioned bow & arrow set. The hands are good. But the other accessories? There\u2019s the bow. Check. And then\u2026 well, you\u2019ll have to forgive me as I don\u2019t know the exact terminology, but the Power Rangers \u201cstick\u201d has several modes. The Red Ranger got all the love and came with most of them, but Kimberly only has the powered down version and then the powered-up pistol version. I kinda wish we\u2019d gotten the sword\/dagger version as I feel like it\u2019s a little more iconic than the powered-up gun. We still got a lot, so that\u2019s cool, but maybe not the right choices. <\/p>\n

Overall, the Pink Ranger is another must have. I know some folks would rather skip Figuarts in lieu of domestic toys, but when was the last time a domestic line made all five? I\u2019m sure it\u2019s happened, but it seems too rare. Those roided up Mighty Armor figures do look insanely awesome, I\u2019m tempted, but are we going to get the girls? If I\u2019m buying PR figs, I want the set and Figuarts is delivering. We\u2019re even getting a North American exclusive Yellow Ranger so Trini can get some love. That\u2019s pretty cool. Luckily, Figuarts have come a long way. These figures don\u2019t feel as delicate as the first ones Vault was picking up (the accessories still do) and they look fantastic all together. That\u2019s why I bought the Pink Ranger even if turns out I really didn\u2019t have much to say about her! <\/p>\n

Okay, I think that covers the basics. I\u2019m sorry for the torturous read \u2013 and don\u2019t tell me it wasn\u2019t, it was torturous to write! I will really need Vault to catch up and do Billy or you guys might just be getting a blue gallery. Wow. Hope you at least enjoyed the pics! <\/p>\n
