Hope Are on NECA’s Radar"},"content":{"rendered":"

We’re running a little behind on NECA WECA 2 if you couldn’t tell, so we’re throwing a Top Ten List into the mix! <\/p>\n

Vault and I had a heck of a time laying down ground rules for this particular list. Did we want to do a list of figures & licenses we want to see NECA conquer? Did we want to just pick one NECA license and crank out a Top Ten for that specific line? Ultimately, we decided to cobble it all together and just do one mega list of the current NECA licenses. Well, kinda. No Gremlins made our list. Nor did E.T. – which surprised me; Vault is all over the NECA NES Exclusives, I was for sure he’d want an Atari ET “Landfill” Edition<\/a>! <\/p>\n

We did opt to stick to things NECA could theoretically do which kept some interesting choices for me off the list. How far does NECA’s Rambo or RoboCop licenses extend? Could we ever see figures from the Force of Freedom or the Ultra Police? Would General Warhawk & Birdman Barnes be out of place in the 21st century? I don’t know, but I opted to leave them out – even after I saw Vault blur the lines of “theoretically possible” with his No. 2 pick. You’ll see… <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Noisy No. 10 – Colonel Trautman!<\/th>\nVault No. 10 – Corporal Hicks (Hive Wars)!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nI have no idea what NECA has planned for Rambo. I was happy to see the teaser for a Rambo from the second film. That\u2019s the one I need. But I also need Colonel Trautman! He\u2019s such a iconic part of the Rambo franchise, not to mention that he sort of spawned a whole \u201cgreen beret military brass\u201d look that has carried over into countless other movies, shows, and video games!<\/td>\nThe last wave of Kenner\u2019s Alien\/Predator line included a new figure of Corporal Hicks. This Hive Wars veteran was now decked out with an eye patch, cybernetic implants, and a robotic \u201cdog\u201d to assist in bug extermination. It\u2019d be amazing to see NECA update the Aliens\u2019 Hicks with this EXTREME! 90\u2019s makeover.<\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 9 – Predator (Heavy Infantry)!<\/th>\nVault No. 9 – Alien Queen!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nI\u2019m not the most informed on unproduced Kenner figures, but if I recall this four-armed, heavy ordnance Predator managed to get himself cancelled from the Kenner line twice. If NECA chooses to invest in a second Kenner wave for Predator, I\u2019d like to see this fellow get his due (not to mention a color scheme\u2026)<\/td>\nWe\u2019re starting to build a nice little hive of xenomorph figures now, so it\u2019s about time to keep them all in line with a Queen. I know this\u2019ll be an enormous and complex figure, but I have faith NECA can get it done with the right amount of articulation and plenty of accessories for a good price.<\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 8 – Peter Keyes (Containment Suit)!<\/th>\nVault No. 8 – Ripley!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nOriginally, Dutch was slated to appear in Predator 2, but Arnold opted out. Instead, Gary Busey was cast as Peter Keyes, a government agent tracking the Predators. I\u2019d like to see Keyes as a figure to be sure, but if nothing else, having a crazy Gary Busey in a containment suit running around on my shelves wouldn\u2019t be the worst thing ever\u2026 <\/td>\nI\u2019m positive you can\u2019t have a true Alien line without a figure of the girl who kicked the most bug butt. I don\u2019t care if she only comes with Jonesy, just make sure she can hold that extra flame thrower some other figure will have. (On a side note, I really want a Jonesy too. So that booth teaser better not be a joke!)<\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 7 – Elizabeth Shaw!<\/th>\nVault No. 7 – Power Loader!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nThis figure was lost to us due to the realities of tooling and lack of interest. I can\u2019t complain because my reasons for wanting this figure don\u2019t exactly stem from a deep love of the character or even Prometheus itself \u2013 it\u2019s just that David 8 makes a fantastic retro space man figure and I\u2019d love to give him a companion space woman. Hopefully, something down the road will aid this figure’s release.<\/td>\nOK, rounding out my top three must have Alien toys is the Power Loader. If we get Ripley, and we get the Queen, then I have to be able to set up some epic battles on my shelf between the two. I feel like this little mech is pretty comparable to ED-209, so I feel like it\u2019s definitely in the realm of possibility.<\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 6 – Kenner Aliens!<\/th>\nVault No. 6 – Dutch (Colonial Marines)!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nIf Kenner Predators are like the best thing ever (seriously, the Blue Predator just blows the movie accurate ones away if you ask me), then Kenner Aliens should be a foregone conclusion. NECA has already talked about this a bit, so my hopes are raised. I\u2019d love to see an all-blue Hive Wars Alien as an easy repaint, but also figures like the Gorilla Alien or Bull Alien would be welcome!<\/td>\nHere\u2019s an obscure one for you. Way back in 1994, Kenner had plans to introduce members of Dutch\u2019s military team to aid the Colonial Marines in fighting Predators. Unfortunately the line was cancelled before Jungle Dutch, High Tech Dutch, Blain, and Big Knife Billy debuted. I think an Arnold in Colonial Marines fatigues would be a fun figure to bolster the ranks.<\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Noisy No. 5 – Dallas!<\/th>\nVault No. 5 – Rambo (NES)!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nWith the 35th Anniversary coming up, NECA looks set to do right by toy collectors and longtime fans of the original (& still my favorite) Alien movie. I want many from the Nostromos crew, but I have to go with the Captain of the ship first (Sorry, Ash). Besides, Dallas can stand in for \u201cViper\u201d until NECA finally gets off their butt and acquires the highly demanded Top Gun license. <\/td>\nWith his brown hair and bright red pants, this version of Rambo is every bit as delightfully absurd as the rest of the NES lot. What really confuses me is why John chose to put on a green shirt when he was talking to the Colonel, yet running around topless and in spandex pants when behind enemy lines. Crazy.\n<\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 4 – Vasquez!<\/th>\nVault No. 4 – Pacific Rim\u2019s Onibaba!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nWe\u2019ve gotten off to a great start on the Colonial Marines from Aliens and hopefully NECA can keep it going. After Hicks & Hudson, the next logical choice is Vasquez. Heck, she might\u2019ve been a more logical choice than Hudson, but sometimes mistaken for a man or not, she couldn\u2019t share tooling with Hicks. Vasquez is a memorable part of the crew and has got to be on NECA\u2019s short list. <\/td>\nOnibaba wasn\u2019t the most devastating kaiju, but his bumbling crab-like body reminds me so much of the silly Showa Era foes Godzilla fought. With some nice articulation he\u2019d definitely stand out on the shelves surrounded by the various blade-heads. Plus he\u2019ll give Tango his own little kaiju to spar with.<\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 3 – Ripley!<\/th>\nVault No. 3 – Pacific Rim\u2019s Otachi!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nWe all knew Ripley was going to be on my list, the question was where. (Vault dropped her off at No. 8. Ironically, behind the Power Loader. I guess he\u2019d rather have that than its driver?) Ripley could easily be Number 1, but the status of her NECA obtaining the likeness rights is somewhere between null & murky so she loses a few spots. NECA tease sometimes about the possibility, or maybe they don\u2019t, I don\u2019t know. This one is played very close to the vest. <\/td>\nOtachi was my favorite kaiju in Pacific Rim. I\u2019m pretty sure she was the most intelligent of all the monsters we saw, and that cunningness led her to be a devastating fighter that was full of surprises. I\u2019d even take two different figures of this character just to accurately capture her full presence.<\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 2 – Dillon!<\/th>\nVault No. 2 – NES Contra Three Pack!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nMaybe I\u2019m just still mad I keep forgetting to track down an Apollo Creed figure, but NECA simply has to get Dillon into the Predator a line. Man cannot live on Dutch (& Dutch, & Dutch, & Dutch, & Dutch, & Dutch) alone! While I\u2019d take any of the crew, Dillon stands out from the others and is top on my Predator list. <\/td>\nThis three pack of the original Contra cover may be impossible to finagle with all the licenses involved. But with the ability to make Bill and Lance figures out of the same actors that they plagiarized were inspired by, and throw in a generic brown alien, this box set could be the crowning achievement to this strange non-line.<\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 1 – lt. Mike Harrigan!<\/th>\nVault No. 1 – Kenner\u2019s Terminator Line!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nHow does Lt. Mike Harrigan get in front of Ripley & Dillon? By being too old for this shit. I just don\u2019t see the love for Harrigan out there that I need to see. Danny Glover did a great job in Predator 2 even if everything else in the film didn\u2019t quite line up correctly. As the second film\u2019s protagonist, it seems only right that NECA include him on the movie accurate side of things even if they can\u2019t make as many of him as they are of Dutch. If they need to recoup costs, maybe NECA could lock up the rights to Roger Murtaugh? <\/td>\nNow that the precedent has been set, I\u2019d really like to see NECA\u2019s take on Kenner\u2019s Terminator line. There is amazing potential with just straight repaints of figures like the Metal Mash and Endoglow T-800s, or even the White Hot T-1000. But getting updated versions of a Future War Arnold and the demonic Kromium would be incredible additions to any shelf. <\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
