\"\"<\/a>I love crazy MOTU characters, and Strobo is definitely right up my alley.\u00a0 The guy inserted a mirror into his chest and is wearing an outfit that would make most superheroes blush.\u00a0 I can\u2019t help thinking that he runs around Eternia, half naked and enforcing chaotic neutrality in his own weird way.<\/p>\n

All the while acting out a strange MOTU\/noir storyline as he searches for Zodac’s killer.<\/p>\n

Strobo only appeared once in all of the old MOTU media outlets.\u00a0 According to his Wiki, it was a story called \u201cThe Dark Power of Skeletor<\/em>\u201d that ran in the Masters of the Universe Magazine.\u00a0 Skeletor uses the Dark Star meteor to cast an evil shadow over the land and control those within it.\u00a0 Lucky for He-Man, Strobo happened to be in the neighborhood and could use his light projecting powers to thwart Skeletor\u2019s evil space rock.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Strobo was pretty blatantly designed to be easily produced as an action figure, so there isn\u2019t a lot of new sculpting on him.\u00a0 Even so, the combination of Zodac\u2019s head, Sy-Klone\u2019s body, and Flipshot\u2019s shorts is oddly functional.\u00a0 Like a lot of MOTU figures, this odd amalgamation gives the figure his own unique look that allows him to stand out a bit on the shelf.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But even with all those reused parts, Strobo still has a couple new pieces.\u00a0 First is the mirror in his chest, which replaces Sy-Klone\u2019s lenticular radar sticker.\u00a0 The mirror doesn\u2019t work very well unless an item is very close to it, but it still looks shiny and reflective which is what really matters.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Strobo also has a newly sculpted cape.\u00a0 This is just a plain cape that drapes straight down, and I really like its simplicity.\u00a0 I definitely wouldn\u2019t mind seeing it remolded in red or black for customizing options.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

With so few new pieces, Strobo\u2019s paint job does most of the heavy lifting to make him look distinctive.\u00a0 Red and blue always look good together.\u00a0 The silver from his helmet and belt also do a great job of adding contrast to the large amount of tanned skin he\u2019s showing.\u00a0 I always thought it was a bit odd that he had a mirror implanted into his chest, but the design team colored the surrounding area in a metallic bronze.\u00a0 This gives a much more natural cybernetic implant look rather than a traumatic accident victim.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Strobo\u2019s articulation is everything we\u2019ve come to expect from the MOTU Classics line.\u00a0 His cape and shorts are even made with a nice soft plastic that doesn\u2019t hamper him in any way.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

For those of you who really aren\u2019t a fan of Strobo, you may still be interested in his accessories.\u00a0 First up we have the Dark Star meteor from the story that Strobo starred in.\u00a0 The rock and stand two newly sculpted pieces that both look fantastic.\u00a0 The meteor in particular looks great with the dark green paint lightly brushed over the translucent green plastic.\u00a0 This gives it a nice glowing effect.\u00a0 I also really love getting various artifacts from the MOTU Multiverse, and can\u2019t wait to fill my Castle Grayskull with them.<\/p>\n

With that said, there is one drawback with this piece.\u00a0 The meteor is not made to be removed from the stand.\u00a0 I don\u2019t even understand the reasoning behind this decision because they\u2019re still two separate pieces.\u00a0 The rock could have easily been made to sit atop the stand, just like Grayskull\u2019s orb.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Strobo\u2019s second accessory is an alternate unmasked head for Zodak.\u00a0 This has probably been one of the more requested items by MO2K fans, and I for one am extremely happy to finally be getting it.\u00a0 The head\u2019s design is almost a perfect translation from his 200X appearance, and really makes the figure feel like his own character and not just a repaint.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, there is one issue with the head.\u00a0 The factory didn\u2019t use glow-in-the-dark paint for his blue energy markings.\u00a0 This isn\u2019t a deal breaker for the head, but it\u2019s certainly one of those annoying little mistakes that you wish someone would have caught.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I\u2019m probably a little biased because of my love for crazy looking obscure characters, but I really like Strobo\u2019s figure.\u00a0 His character design allowed for an easy transition to plastic, but he still has his own unique personality that helps him stand out on the shelf.<\/p>\n
