/>We’re trying to wrap up our November Matty reviews before the end of the year. Today I’m going to take a look at a figure I really didn’t think we’d get, but I’m glad he did: Eternos Palace King Randor. He’s a figure that may just replace the original Classics’ Randor on my shelves.

I was one of those kids that liked my figures to look accurate to the source material I was familiar with. Even though I never owned a King Randor from the original line, I always felt the figure looked wrong. The Filmation cartoon was my source for MOTU, and Randor didn’t wear armor.

<img was happy with original Classics Randor and didn’t much else from the line. But Mattel’s miraculous acquisition of the Filmation rights allowed me the true Randor that I’d been overcoat and shoes are contrasted with his vibrant orange leggings. You’d think that last bit would clash, but I think it works really nice together and keeps the figure from looking like a sea of red. The coloring also adds the finishing touches to his Filmation sculpt. Continue to ball jointed. The abs, elbows, and knees, and ankles are hinged. His wrists and waist are swivel cuts, while his shoulders are swivel hinges. I’m pretty sure his hips are also the normal swivel hinges, but his skirt prevents them from moving much. Randor’s new poofy sleeves also have no bicep joint, and his shins have no swivel. On their own it might not be a big deal, but together it feels like the figure is very limited.

Randor technically comes with three accessories. First is a yellow-gold coloring of the same spear that came with original Classics Randor. Nothing too new, but it does look more realistic.

Randor’s second accessory is his necklace. This is an OK piece, but I really wish it had been done entirely in plastic instead of having that little rope. Mine’s always getting twisted and jammed in his head joint when I pose the figure. That little bauble on front is also always turning around too.

Lastly is my favorite accessory, his goblet of wine. This cup was chromed with gold and has a nice design patterned around the outside. What makes it awesome is the bit of dark colored liquid sculpted inside. This is a great accessory for any of the figures, but now my Randor can stop worrying about his son as he sips his troubles away.

<a
