\"\"<\/a>Sometimes Noisy and I coordinate without even knowing.\u00a0 I had no idea he was going to review another Classic Turtle for Thursday, and he didn\u2019t know I was doing another Nick Turtle today.\u00a0 So for the second week in a row, we\u2019re bringing you a TMNT double dose!<\/p>\n

As soon as I pulled Leo and Raph from their packages I knew I\u2019d be getting more figures from this line.\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t sure how many, but the four turtles were a definite.\u00a0 Flash forward to this week and our Target finally getting in their first case.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Donatello is my favorite turtle, but unfortunately I had to hold off on buying him.\u00a0 All the Dons our Toys R Us received had paint slop issues on his bandanna.\u00a0 So I was forced to just make do with Leo, and I grabbed Raph too as an extra consolation.<\/p>\n

I think almost every review I\u2019ve read about these guys mentions that all four turtles have unique sculpts.\u00a0 It really can\u2019t be stressed enough how amazing that is, especially since we live in the age of companies making a universal body to represent most characters.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t have Mike yet, but I\u2019m pretty sure Don is the tallest of the four brothers.\u00a0 This, coupled with his light green skin color, are two very simple yet effective ways of giving his figure personality.\u00a0 But to me, it\u2019s his face sculpt that really gets his character across.\u00a0 His right eye is a bit wider than his left, which gives him that raised eyebrow expression that Mr. Spock and The Rock are so famous for.\u00a0 Add in his frown and Don could easily be giving a determind battle stare, or a WTF look at something Mikey just said.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

That little bit of paint slop I mentioned earlier is one of the few issues you have to watch out for when scanning the pegs.\u00a0 Luckily it\u2019s not even that extensive of a problem since most of the figure\u2019s body is molded the color it has to be.\u00a0 The only other painted areas are his knee\/shoulder pads and the wrappings around his hands and ankles.\u00a0 Any slop on these parts can be seen as a variation in the fabric, so it\u2019s really just the bandanna you need to watch out for.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Don has the same articulation as the Nick Turtles.\u00a0 His head is on a ball joint and can easily be removed.\u00a0 The shoulders, elbows, and knees are all swivel\/hinges.\u00a0 His hands are just plain swivel joints.\u00a0 The only problem I have, and I mention it in my last review, is that their legs and elbows don\u2019t bend a full ninety degrees.\u00a0 This isn\u2019t a major issue, but it does cut back a little on the articulation.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As for accessories, Don comes with his standard weapon: the bo staff.\u00a0 Personally, I think his bo is too short, but other than that it serves its purpose well.<\/p>\n

Don also comes with a sprue of specific weapons.\u00a0 (Weapons enthusiasts, you\u2019ll have to help me out with the names to these things.)\u00a0 There are two huge throwing discs that look like saw blades.\u00a0 He has a second bo with a blade on the end.\u00a0 And lastly he has a staff-like weapon that\u2019s been split into three, each part attached to the other by a chain.\u00a0 Not too bad of a selection, but I think Raph and Leo did better with theirs.<\/p>\n

Playmates did an amazing job finding the middle ground between a toy that\u2019s meant to be played with, and an action figure that\u2019s mostly meant for collecting and displaying.\u00a0 I know that most non-turtles figures in the line aren\u2019t as well designed, but I\u2019m hoping that will change over time if this line becomes successful.<\/p>\n
