Even though I really wanted them, I never actually expected Mattel would get the Filmation characters added to MOTU Classics.\u00a0 But here we are.\u00a0 It\u2019s 2012 and our Club Eternia exclusive is the first ever figure of Shadow Weaver, Filmation<\/span> MOTU Classics style!<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always felt like Shadow Weaver was one of the more menacing Horde members.\u00a0 Where the other creatures and abominations were in your face with their terror, Shadow Weaver was always hidden away behind a mysterious shroud.\u00a0 Was her face being hidden by shadows, or was there even anything there aside from two glowing eyes?\u00a0 Plus, I don\u2019t even think she has legs anymore.\u00a0 The character definitely has a Lovecraftian vibe to her, which fits in quite nicely with the source material.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Shadow Weaver\u2019s sculpt is pretty damned perfect.\u00a0 She\u2019s a one hundred percent new sculpt, which is really nice considering our last two Club exclusive figures.\u00a0 (I expect equal dedication to next year\u2019s figure, Matty!)\u00a0 Shadow Weaver\u2019s cowl is actually a separate piece from the dark head inside.\u00a0 It has an interesting Arabian feel to it with the veil.\u00a0 The sculpted folds on the bottom do a great job lining up with her cape, and I really like how far back the hood tapers off.<\/p>\n

I was a bit disappointed that the Four Horsemen didn\u2019t sculpt more to her face.\u00a0 That would have been a cool little Easter egg, like Tri-Klops\u2019 eyes.<\/p>\n

\nThe sculpting on the rest of her body is pretty nice.\u00a0 Shadow Weaver\u2019s definitely got some sexy curves, even though she\u2019s pretty much covered from head to toe.\u00a0 Her cape is made out of a super soft plasitic, like the DCUC Steppenwolf\u2019s, and it does a great job of blending in with her sleeves.\u00a0 The bottom of her robe is also nicely sculpted.\u00a0 This piece doesn\u2019t come flush to the ground and still gives her the illusion of floating, even when not on the stand.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Shadow Weaver has an incredibly simple paint job.\u00a0 All of her robes are made out of a dark maroon, with an even darker airbrushing to give the illusion of depth and shadow.\u00a0 Her hands are painted a sickly green color and tipped off with black nails.\u00a0 Her actual head is molded black and given bright yellow eyes.\u00a0 My figure almost turned out perfect, except for the slop coming off the Horde bat belt.<\/p>\n

Since she has a new dress\/robe piece, Weaver\u2019s articulation has been changed up a bit.\u00a0 Her head is still on a ball joint.\u00a0 Shoulders are swivel\/hinges.\u00a0 Biceps, wrists, and waist are all swivels.\u00a0 But her elbows and thigh\/crotch piece are hinges.\u00a0 This is a pretty nice joint.\u00a0 It gives her the freedom to move forward, but still keeps the dress from looking chopped up.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Weaver comes with two accessories.\u00a0 First is her magic wand.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The wand has a pretty simple design and looks a lot like a baton (Shadow Weaver: Jilted Cheerleader!).\u00a0 I am pretty impressed by the crystal ball on the end though.\u00a0 It\u2019s made of a translucent plastic that\u2019s got a hint of blue to it.\u00a0 It gives a sense of realism that would have been neat to see on Evil-Lyn\u2019s staff.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The second accessory is her spell book.\u00a0 I\u2019m not enough of a MOTU buff to know if this book actually showed up anywhere, but I\u2019m sure one of you can tell me.\u00a0 Either way, the design is pretty detailed with some neat sculpted symbols running along the front and back.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Shadow Weaver also comes with a clear stand, so you can have her floating in your displays.\u00a0 The stand works great, but I was disappointed it didn\u2019t have a ball joint on the end.\u00a0 It would have been nicer if she had the mobility of Orko.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Shadow Weaver is a pretty good figure, and definitely a nice bonus for joining the club.\u00a0 I\u2019m really hoping Matty will follow up soon with some 200X male Shadow Weavers.\u00a0 This witch definitely needs some acolytes to command, and I know I\u2019d at least buy two.<\/p>\n
