\"\"<\/a>There was plenty to look forward to, but it\u2019s back to business as usual after our exciting Toy Fair weekend.\u00a0 I\u2019m kicking off this week\u2019s reviews with a figure I just got in the mail, Revoltech Yamaguchi\u2019s Alucard from Hellsing. ONE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE SIX<\/p>\n

Hellsing is a secret organization founded to protect Britain from paranormal threats. \u00a0The institute was begun by Abraham Van Helsing, but is now run by his daughter Integra.\u00a0 To vanquish the forces of evil, Integra uses a mix of specially trained military personnel and beings with supernatural powers.\u00a0 The most powerful member of the Hellsing staff is Alucard, the first vampire.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There\u2019s a manga and a couple of different anime series, all of which have similar themes but divergent plots.\u00a0 But what remains mostly constant in each series is Alucard and his abilities.\u00a0 To say he\u2019s overpowered is almost an understatement.\u00a0 He\u2019s been \u201ckilled\u201d in multiple ways, but it never seems to take.\u00a0 This is unfortunate for him because he seems bored with life and actually wants to die.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It\u2019s an interesting story, and personally I really enjoyed the original anime, which focused mainly on a young girl named Seras Victoria and her newly bestowed vampire abilities.\u00a0 But Alucard is still in it quite a bit, making his quippy observations and killing enemies with giant dog heads made of shadow and eyeballs that he pulls out of the darkness of his body.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Revoltech figure seems to be based more on the Hellsing manga.\u00a0 Although Alucard\u2019s design is mostly the same in each of the different media projects, his clothes are very dark and lack the bright reds of the animes.\u00a0 The figure itself also has a lot of design elements that we saw with Revoltech\u2019s Vash and Wolfwood figures.\u00a0 There are a lot of sharply sculpted edges in the design of his clothing.\u00a0 The tails of his coat in particular are very angular and dynamic.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

These stylistic lines are a double edged sword though.\u00a0 On one hand you have a sculpt full of kinetic energy, which makes for some really fantastic action poses.\u00a0 The down side to this is that these angles can make the figure too stylized, giving him a very awkward appearance from some angles.\u00a0 Alucard suffers from this, especially from the back, because you can see a lot of open spaces around the joints and just how odd his posture really is.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

If you can get over his stylized look, you\u2019ll discover Alucard has some really extensive articulation.\u00a0 His head, neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, torso, hips, and ankles are all Revolver joints.\u00a0 I\u2019m not really sure why, but they went with hinge joints for the knees.\u00a0 Alucard also has two Revolver joints in each tail of his coat.\u00a0 This was something we also saw of Vash\u2019s coat, and I really enjoy the movement effect it can create on the figure.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Alucard\u00a0 comes with plenty of accessories, most of which are extra body parts.\u00a0 He comes with a total of three faces: one is looking straight, one looking left and chewing on a crucifix, and one looking right with a toothy grin.\u00a0 That third one is my favorite.\u00a0 But I\u2019m pretty impressed with the detail in all the faces.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t catch it on camera, but each their eyes have a tiny cat-shaped iris.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Along with the faces, Al also comes with nine alternate hands.\u00a0 Each of them is wearing white gloves with the occult markings printed on the back.\u00a0 There is a pair of fists, a pair of trigger fingers, and a pair with splayed fingers.\u00a0 For more dramatic scenes there\u2019s a pair that holds one of his disembodied eyes in a dark square.\u00a0 But my favorite is his flat palmed hand, which he uses to kill ghouls by ramming it through them.\u00a0 This hand also comes with an accompanying blood splatter plate for added effect.\u00a0 It looks pretty cool, even if you do have to use a stand to hold it up.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Alucard\u2019s other accessories are his wide brimmed hat, his black and silver guns, and two pairs of red tinted glasses.\u00a0 I\u2019m pretty sure they included two because they\u2019re so tiny and it wouldn\u2019t take much to lose one.\u00a0 Alucard also comes with a blood splattered base for one foot, and a more traditional Revoltech stand which can hold the blood effect or plug into his back.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I\u2019m pretty happy with how this figure turned out.\u00a0 His articulation is fun, especially the coat.\u00a0 I also really love his facial expressions.\u00a0 He comes with so many accessories that it\u2019s hard to complain, but I would have really enjoyed seeing a giant eyeball dog arm attachment.\u00a0 I\u2019m also really hoping they make a Seras Victoria figure because Alucard seems a bit incomplete on my shelves without her hanging around.<\/p>\n
