ItsAllTrueReview: DC Classics – Spectre(s) & Eclipso

Between filled online pre-orders and store sightings, DCUC12 has been out for nearly two months, but many fans got their first opportunity to order it just a week ago via MattyCollector.com. If you're still without, the set is still available. With the early waves, Mattel strived to make a "play pattern" out of the first two figures in each wave. With the A-listers being relegated to All-Star repacks, that may not be as important to Mattel anymore, but it's still true for these two. See, the Spectre put Eclipso out of a job.

DCClassics.Com Iron
& Mary Marvel(s) Review

I like to do these DCUC reviews in groups of two because it lets me get them on the schedule a little quicker. Usually, I try to group the figures in sensible duos just because it makes them easier to write about, Darkseid and Desaad, for example. But it's not always easy to do that. For this review, I'm left with pairing up Iron andMary Marvel. There's no obvious connection here, save one. This review contains the best and worst figures from DCUC12.

ItsAllTrueReview: DC Classics – Darkseid & Desaad

So yeah, I wasn't looking forward to DCUC12 back when the photos were leaked. Desaad, I was happy with, but Darkseid was a different story. It's not that there was anything wrong with the figure, I just let myself get excited thinking it might be more true to the Super Powers version. I started to think about the cape, the medallion, and the general look of the Super Powers figure. Y'know, the one that got me interested in Darkseid in the first place and that’s what I started hoping to get. I love that version. When I read Darkseid’s appearances in the comics, I still hear Frank Welker's deep, husky Darkseid voice.*

ItsAllTrueReview: DC Classics – Dr. Mid-Nite & Copperhead

So, I have to fess up. I wasn't terribly excited for DCUC12. There were a few reasons. Only a couple characters were shouting out to me. I wasn't excited as the prospect of a huge Darkseid. I didn't know how cool the Four Horsemen could make a Metal Man. Well, it's been nearly half a year since I expressed my doubts about DCUC12. I've had the figures for about a week now. Was I impressed? Did I change my mind? You'll have to read on to find out. First up is Doctor Mid-Nite & Copperhead.
