Most Requested Figures:
Iron Man – Rescue

With all these movie Iron Man figures running around, plus the few from the Marvel Universe line, I think it’s about time for Tony’s right-hand woman to get her own toy. No, I’m not asking for a personal assistant figure, but I would like to see a figure of Pepper Potts in her Rescue Armor.

Long before Gwyneth Paltrow played her in a movie, Pepper Potts was a supporting character in the Iron Man comics, appearing within six months of the Armored Avenger himself. For a brief time, she was used as a love interest for Iron Man, but ultimately ends up with Stark’s longtime friend and driver, Happy Hogan. That was how it was in the comics for a long while, up until a certain movie came along and necessitated a change to the status quo.

First, Happy died as a result of injuries he sustained during the Marvel Civil War. Then, in some scenes very reminiscent of that aforementioned movie, Pepper is caught in an explosion – deadly shrapnel embedded in her chest – and the only thing that can save her is… you guessed it, a powerful magnet to keep the shrapnel at bay. After that, well… you know how it goes at Stark Industries. One cybernetic part leads to another and then the next thing you know you end up with a full-time superhero gig. In Pepper’s case, she discovered a new prototype armor while Tony was on the run from the Norman Osborne. This new armor, with Jarvis-based A.I. and defensive repulsor technology, was specifically designed to work with her cybernetic upgrades. After saving a number of civilians (including Tony), she dubs herself “Rescue”.

This works out for Pepper because Personal Assistants don’t get action figures. Heck, I’m still waiting on that Happy Hogan figure – and Hasbro has suit bodies in that scale. So, clad in her own armor – Pepper can get some love and strike back at the sausagefest that is the Iron Man 2 line. We know Hasbro knows about her, because she’s already made an appearance in the Superhero Squad line. So, let’s keep her on the fast track and let Hasbro know fans would like to give her a spot in Marvel Universe or Iron Man 2 (or Marvel Legends… Hmmm?). She’d fit great in any of those lines for sure. But let’s hope they don’t forget the alternate unmasked head. You still have to see the hot girl underneath.

  1. Hot female in Iron Man armor?

Sounds like a no-brainer, unless of course it’s Hasbro making the fi—D’OH!!!

  2. I’m all for them tossing her into the Iron man 2 line comic series and/or them making a Marvel Legend of her.
Sadly, I don’t care for the MU line’s design choices.

  3. She’d make a great figure. I can see her being made in the smaller scale or the 6 inch scale.

  4. I had no idea she sported her own armor in the comics. That would truly be a welcomed addition to the comic series line.

And, yes, we definitely need a Jon Favreau figure! But I want his character from “PCU”.
