Vault Review: MOTU Classics Battle Stands

Last in the pack is a little plastic bag full of pegs and this pipe looking tool that I will refer to as a “Peg Pusher”. Allowing the fans to put the character where they want on the stand is a great option, and the procedure they came up with to accommodate that is kind of interesting. Each of those pegs is too small and sharp to push in with your fingers. (Trust me, they will leave a mark.) So they also included a Peg Pusher and it works great. I don’t know who added this into the set, but they saved a lot of bloody gnarled up fan fingers, so thank you.

Now, to the negative part of the review. Interestingly though, it has nothing to do with the stands themselves. A warning to you all out there. If your MOTU figure has weak ankles, these stands will not hold him up any better. You’ll notice my He-Man didn’t fare so well, and he’s the strongest man in the universe, so what chance does my Beast Man have.

The only other problem I have is that they are sold out. Yes, I know. There are a lot of people out there that didn’t get them. But when I put my five bases together, they make the coolest Eternian road, but it’s too short. I must have more. Mattel must make more, for all of us. They are planning on running this line till 2016, and I think these stands should be around for the majority of that time.

Also, Mattel needs to do the other themes from the MOTU universe. I want Snake Mountain, Fright Zone, Etheria, Pre-Eternia, and maybe even other non-specific themes like fields, swamp, forest, and palace. There are a lot of possibilities here and Mattel needs to know that. There’s no reason we can’t have a different theme of stands last for a year, and then switch out for a new one. There’s no reason that they have to be limited in number or creativity.

So, tell Matty how you feel. Go to their forums, or their facebook, or post on the toy websites that you know Toy Guru looks at, and tell them what you want. The MOTU fans have Toy Guru’s ear more than any of the other fan bases, so you need to use it to get the most out of this line.

  1. I would have bit on these had they been a bit cheaper, but now that I’ve heard they are only “possibly” coming back I don’t mind since I would have only bought enough for a few of my figures.

  2. Good to know that I can’t park my Land Shark at Castle Greyskull. I’ll have to figure out another way to deliver my flowers and Candygrams there.

  3. Dude, I don’t wanna see the kind of parking boot you’d need to secure a Landshark. I saw one for a Bashasaurus and it was a doozie.

  4. Wow, you actually made me want to get half a dozen boxes of these! It’s a pity that they are sold out. Urgh.
