Oh Crap!
I’m a Dad!

I was really happy to have my five consecutive on-time reviews, but I’ll have to start a new streak next week. I’ve got one heck of a reason: I’m a Dad!

I know it’s not really toy related, but I had to share! Samuel here was born Wednesday night at 8:36. He clocked in at 9 lbs. 3 oz. and 22.25″ long. He’s a big kid! Wife & Baby are doing well, but it’ll be a couple days before I’m able to take them home. I’ll be sticking it out here with them until then, but I’ll be back soon!

  1. Congratulations, Noisy
! Here’s hoping your son grows to enjoy action figures as much as you!

  2. Congratulations for the healthy new son!

And as I’m sure your kindly Aunt Sally will insist, “Hey, you’ll never need to buy him any toys because he can play with your Neca Transformers and Hot Toys Avengers.”

  3. Contracts to you and your wife.
    Before I scrolled down, I wasn’t sure, this post wouldn’t turn into a regular review … 😉

  4. I’d say Samuel beats anything Mattel could ever deliver. Just don’t turn it into a monthly subscription or you’ll have to give up toys altogether! 😀

Congratulations to you, Noisy along with the new mom and family. Looks like precious cargo from my vantage point! 😎

  5. Congratulations! Remember, they aren’t your toys exclusively anymore, because you won’t be able to say no to that face!

  6. Congratulations! Now you’ve got your first live action figure, with sound, smell & everything! 🙂

  7. Congratulations! Haha I saw the picture and thought “Is he gonna review his baby?”

  8. Thanks for sharing. He’s beautiful. Congratulations to you and your wife. Enjoy every second!

  9. Congrats! My first son just turned 3 weeks. Just let the first week happen. You’ll begin to get back to normal after that.

  10. Congrats to you and your wife, Noisy! Glad to hear everyone is healthy. Man, that kid’s got some serious cheek-ers!. Too cute.
And a “baby review” would be absolutely hilarious! Anything that didn’t live up to expectation can (and should) be blamed squarely on Toy Guru. 😉

    1. Well, the paint app seems a little inconsistent, I don’t know what that strawberry mark on the forehead is about… Note how the right fist seems to fit perfectly against the mouth, THAT is some fine engineering! 🙂

  11. Congratulations to you and Mrs. Noisy! That’s fantastic. Take a day, or even a couple, off from the site!

And remember, you’re buying action figures for two now! It’s hard to justify not indulging Junior when busy buying for your own inner child. And he’s anything like mine, he’ll make sure of that, trust me. 🙂

I also think the review idea is awesome!

    1. Thanks, Rod! I think I’ll have to. I barely have time to form a thought… and I’m off work for two weeks. lol

It’s silly. We’re years away from action figures, but I’m already looking, wondering if we’ll have certain things available when the time comes. I got it bad! lol

  12. How’s the articulation?

Congratulations! They’re gross, aggravating and awesome, and them smiling at you will melt your heart.

  13. The best part of this is, Noisy gets introduced to a whole new world of toys… KIDS TOYS!! it’s an amazing world, cuz there are some really cool pieces getting made for the young uns these days (imaginext, staring directly at you!) even as the kids are glaring at tv screens and video games (don’t worry, you’ve got 6 or 7 years before video games become a thing noisy) and stuffed toys too!! man, there are some toys made now for babies and toddlers that make my old stuffed animals feel like a bee hive wrapped in burlap. i imagine more than once he’ll arrive home with new toys for samuel, knowing full well that he intends to inherit the wealth when the child moves on in interests… the imaginext stuff in particular is just one solid paint upgrade away from being the greatest thing to ever happen to your callgrim. seriously, space stations, samurai castles, cyber-dinos, giant ogres… in scale battle mechs. yeah… in scale battle mechs.

and the building toys!! he’ll have a wonderful excuse to buy lincoln logs, erector sets, legos (seriously, get that kind started on the duplo!!), he might even ebay some of his favorites (i would… craigslist and ebay and you can hit the motherload FAR cheaper than trying to stock up at TRU) and actually PLAY with those toys again. i’m telling you, fatherhood is the best thing to happen to a toy geek, though it does through the high end toys into a different light entirely. a whole new appreciation will awaken for toys that can survive water, earth, fist and drool, the four elements of the child universe.

and remember, the very best toy of all… those pinchable, rubbable, kissable baby cheeks!!! get them before they grow up and find you embarrassing!! get them buttery baby cheeks before they stop being buttery! and by all means, caffeinate that wife if you haven’t already, you know she’s jonesing! 🙂

    1. Were I in this position I would INSTANTLY go out and buy that Imaginext ‘Space’ Mobile Command Post thing.

It’s HUGE and it’s over $100 and it is so glorious. It will also be a complete bitch to find complete 10 years down the road just like all the big GI Joe vehicle sets.

  14. Congratulations!

My daughter just turned one in August and I have to say, the last year has been amazing. While there are definitely some challenges, there is so much joy in knowing not just are you doing stuff for you but now you’re doing it for a little person to enjoy. Whenever I’m picking up Imaginext toys, learning more about some cool property, or buying random decorations, I get the added joy of knowing that my kid is (hopefully) going to get enjoyment out of them someday as well. Whenever I order a vintage MOTU storybook, I have someone that I can read it too!

Many blessings upon you and your family!

  15. That’s a pretty weak review. What about paint apps? Sculpting? How many points of articulation does he have? Jeez.

(For the sake of politeness, I won’t ask about the condition of the package he came in)

    Anyway, congrats.

  16. Good job you guys. Glad they are both healthy and well. My advice (as a dad of 4 kids) is go out and buy some toy you want ASAP as a celebration purchase so that way years from now when you look at that item you will remember the feeling you had being a new dad and the joy of having a new kid. it then makes that item you buy precious and something you will never part with.

  17. Many congratulations on your new and best acquisition, you’re lucky, you have the best piece of art for you collection, unique, exclusive and invaluable, always terrified and possibly you will want to have more.

Good Days, Good Nights (I hope you don’t like sleeping a lot) and most laugths for the future

  18. Also, what scale is he in? I’m a stickler for scale. Does he fit in with the rest of your collection, or is he going to have his own shelf?

    1. I read in a review the lead brand manager said the scale would be different but when you saw the movie it would all make sense…

      🙂

(that’s a Playmates Star Trek Joke just for Noisy)

  19. Congratulations! It looks like I became a dad 10 days before you, so feel free to ask me for any advice and to impart some wisdom from my vast experience of almost 2 weeks being a dad 😉

  20. Congrats on your healthy newborn! But what we really want to know is how many points of articulation does he have? I half expected word balloons on Sam’s photo. 😉

  21. That’s great ! First time dad here. Kennedy was born inAugust.

Proud daddy! Kids are like jumbo action figures!

  22. Congrats!!! :D. Now you only have to wait 3 or 4 years until you can play epic actionfigure-battles with him ;). Man, I wish my Dad would have run an actionfigure-review-website^^.
