We all collect our favorite lines, but some of my fondest childhood memories are the characters I made up. Who needs preset backstories? I’ll make my own, thank you. This is why I’m such a huge Lego fan. It’s also why I’m a big supporter of independent toy companies. So when a company is able to bring together these two loves of mine, I feel it’s necessary to showcase them here at IAT. Here’s my review of BrickArms WW2 German Heer Soldier.

For those of you who aren’t familiar, BrickArms is produces custom weapons, accessories, and minifigures that are compatible with Lego. The company was started by Will Chapman back in 2006, whose son wanted some World War 2 weapons for his Lego men. Since then, they’ve grown into one of the biggest independent producers of minifigure accessories.

Recently, BrickArms released a couple of new WW2 themed minifigures. This is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to buy one of Will’s custom figures, so I jumped at the chance. I’ll be honest, the only reason I picked the German Soldier over the US Soldier is because of the weapons he comes with. I couldn’t pass up that Ray Gun. I have to say, that both figures looked great though. And these aren’t stickers, each of the designs are printed on the figure. Although the print job is great, it isn’t as sturdy as a regular Lego tampo. So you’ll want to be careful. I’ve already scratched some of mine off accidentally.

This minifigure will cost you $25 plus shipping. That may seem like a lot, but you have to keep in mind what you’re buying. We live in a time period where fans are stepping up and making custom weapons, add-ons, and figures. Many of these new toy companies, like BrickArms, make high-quality product, but simply can’t produce them as cheaply as the large, long-standing toy companies. Continue to Page 2…

I think the minifigure and his nineteen unique accessories are well worth the price. But, like I said earlier, I’m biased when it comes to indie toy makers, I know the hardwork, creativity, and ingenuity they have to put into these toys and I believe that increases their value. Plus, Brickarms appreciates their customers. For every order, they includes at least one extra item for free. You can’t beat that.

Here’s a rundown of all the weapons this German comes with.
