I had this really cool Morbius figure once. It wasn\u2019t exactly comic accurate. It skewed creepier with a decayed, atrophied look, giant claws and a flowing decrepit cape. He had \u201cFang Attack Action\u201d where a lever in his face would stretch his chin for a screaming\u2026 well fang attack. I really enjoyed adding him to my Spidey villain collection. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

Then one day he fell forward and I didn\u2019t notice. And then a day passed. A week passed. A month passed. It was a big ML collection so I\u2019m really not sure exactly how long Morbius was face-checking the figure in front of him. When I did finally notice and reached in to correct him, well, his face had been let\u2019s say\u2026 permanently rearranged. The softer plastic used for the action feature really, really liked the plastic of the figure in front of ol\u2019 Morbius and they had plenty of time to bond. Morbius\u2019 face basically melted off. I don\u2019t throw away many figures, but I did have to toss him. I imagine I\u2019m not the only one. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

And so I\u2019ve been Morbius-less for many years now. Hasbro finally saw fit to correct that with a less ambitious, but still great figure this year. This Morbius isn\u2019t trying to be too cool for school. He\u2019s just on the basic buck with a few new bits to nail his look. I do miss the action feature because it was cool, but it definitely wasn\u2019t worth it in the long run. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

The new figure starts with a new head sculpt and I actually like it even though it\u2019s screaming. I\u2019m not a fan of screaming heads that often, but Morbius just chilling on the shelf probably wouldn\u2019t look right. This snarling expression is convincing too. Morbius is not happy. Maybe he just saw a pic of his old figure. I\u2019m not entire sure what else is new \u2013 my ML parts knowledge just isn\u2019t as strong. The claw hands are probably a reuse, but the torso could be new. It\u2019s designed to integrate his fashionable collar. New or not, it all comes together for a clean, simple Morbius look and brings another classic Spidey villain to the shelves. Continue to Page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

The articulation is standard: ball-joints at the neck, shoulders, wrists, hips, & inverted ankles; swivels at the biceps, waist, thighs, & calves, double-hinged elbows & knees, the ab crunch. As has been mentioned repeatedly, the hips are good, but are the one area that\u2019s not great. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

The paint is the one area that could have used a little more love. The glaring issue to me is the belt. The paint there is simply too thin and already washed out, never mind where\u2019s it already been scratched off. Honestly, it would almost kinda make a theme for the figure if the collar & cape were similar and not bright red, but it\u2019s mismatched and one big weak spot for the figure. The head is painted well though as are the forearms. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

The aforementioned cape is the closest we get to an accessory. Morbius includes two \u2013 one draped down for a normal vanilla standing pose and then another flared out for attack or intimidating poses. It doesn\u2019t entirely work because it\u2019s not connected to the arms at all, but it can look fantastic in the right pose and is probably the best compromise for the underarm costume parts. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

Overall, Morbius is a little more run of the mill then other parts of the wave. Like the others, he\u2019s been done smartly but he\u2019 just not screaming at me as much as Ben Reilly or Venom, but he\u2019s still a great get. The head sculpt is top notch and the costume spot on \u2013 if the belt were painted less cheaply, he\u2019d almost be perfect. I mean, I want to give Hasbro points for making a figure that\u2019s face won\u2019t melt off, but I don\u2019t want to set the bar too low. <\/p>\n
