When I was a kid watching Super Powers, these strange robots showed up part of the way into the series. They were cool enough, but were just kind of added out of the blue. I wasn\u2019t sure of their purpose; as a kid, I reasoned that they were there for Firestorm. His powers don\u2019t work on organic material so he couldn\u2019t transmute a Parademon, but he could do just about anything to a robot. <\/p>\n

I later realized that the robots served another purpose. The Justice League can\u2019t outright murder a squad of henchmen. The Joes can\u2019t mow down a column of Cobra Troopers. The Transformers Movie couldn\u2019t open with the wholesale death of a human cast. And He-Man can\u2019t bash Beast Man\u2019s brains in. But robots? Robots are fair game. If a cartoon needed to depict violence, highlight mass slaughter, or just let the main hero hit something, then a robot was your\u2026 er, man.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

In MOTU, those robots appeared in a variety of forms, but one of the most iconic were Skeletor\u2019s Robot Knights, or Hover Robots. They appear right away in Diamond Ray of Disappearance and appear on and off again throughout the series whenever something needed to die. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

I really didn\u2019t think we\u2019d get these guys in the line, but I\u2019m super glad that we did even if they ended up as an exclusive. They showed up on Matty one month or another (and should be back in December) and I was able to snag the there. Which is great, because I don\u2019t go to any conventions. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

The sculpt itself is phenomenal. There are figures left and right in this line for me to comb over and nitpick \u2013 this is not one of them. There is literally nothing missing that I want on the sculpt It looks spot on to the show with a dash of extra detail thrown in to bring them up-to-speed with classics. They look great. The paintwork and lenticular sticker support the sculpt perfectly. The paint is metallic in some spots to provide a nice contrast. I love the sticker. Continue to Page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Articulation is limited, but it\u2019s exactly what\u2019s needed. The arms have ball-joints at the shoulders & elbows with great range. The wrists swivel and so does the head! It\u2019s kinda silly, but I didn\u2019t expect that. The wrist swivel is also there to let the accessory hands swap out. Each robot has two sets, one with the blades in claw mode and the other in spinning blade mode. They swap out easily and they add a nice layer of fun. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

The one thing they come with that I probably won’t use is a sticker sheet to give them various levels of battle damage. It’s a cool add and it definitely keeps with the fun theme of this set, but I just don’t want to sticker ’em all up. Also included are three typical MOTU stands. These are some of the best, sturdy stands you can get and they\u2019re very unobtrusive. I would like a ball-joint or something on the top so the robots can be angled a bit, but the plug in the exhaust port is at least secure and the robots look just fine upright. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

Overall, this is a win-win inclusion for the line. The Hover Robots are a big part of Filmation Skeletor\u2019s forces even if they only appear in a handful of episodes. They have a great sculpt & execution and the three-pack lets you add them to your to collection even if you only have the money to buy one set. That said, you\u2019ll want to buy plenty more. <\/p>\n
