<\/a> So, against my better judgement, I went out for Force Friday tonight. This morning? Yesterday? Speaking of, I need to go to bed\u2026 <\/p>\nAnyway, I wasn\u2019t going to buy anything so I should\u2019ve stayed home. On the outside, I thought there might be a chance to find the Star Wars Black 6\u201d Captain Phasma. Of all the figures revealed so far, she\u2019s really the only one that I really want (& maybe that weird Target-faced bounty hunter guy. He\u2019s weird). So I ventured out to see if that was going to show up at all. My Target didn\u2019t reopen, so they were out. My TRU did open. There was a healthy line of 20 people and I figured, even if they got a Phasma\u2026 well, I\u2019m not really into running through a TRU. So Wal-Mart it was! I hit up all three just to see the lay of the land. <\/p>\n

<\/center><\/p>\nNone were busy. The last one did have a pretty rad employee actually manning a table with swag & cake and talking up all the Star Wars goodies to the people of Walmart at 1am. They all pretty much had the same stuff. Giant pre-filled displays. For Star Wars Black 6\u201d, they only held the five figures form wave one and, strangely, were only one figure deep. The whole four foot, three shelf display \u2013 one figure deep. Crazy. There were a lot more of the little guys, but only one figure seemed to be drying up. Captain Phasma. <\/p>\n

<\/center><\/p>\nAs long-time readers know, I\u2019m weak. Not finding a 6\u201d Phasma and scarcely running across a 3-3\/4\u201d Phasma made for a terrible stew in my collector brain and, of course, one came home with me. You already know that because we\u2019re several paragraphs into the review! (I also bought a First Order Stormtrooper. I pretty much expected myself to do that. Troopers are hard to pass up). <\/p>\n

<\/center><\/p>\nThe 3-3\/4\u201d figure is pretty swanky for what it is. First off, it\u2019s actually 4-1\/4\u201d thanks to the actress playing Phasma, Brienne of Tarth \u2013 sorry, Gwendoline Christie. She\u2019s one of my favorite parts of Game of Thrones and I don\u2019t know if we\u2019ll see her unmasked in Episode 7 or if she\u2019ll get to truly be menacing, but I hope so. Talented actress & great costume are taken care of, so let\u2019s hope her role measures up. Continue to Page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The sculpt is well done. I think that\u2019s the big thing with these reduced articulation figures. They\u2019re not really mine thing, but the one advantage to less pieces (other than the price), is that the other areas like the sculpt & paint needs to amp up to compensate. The sculpt does that here. Little details, down to armor latches, can be found all over the figure. It\u2019s appreciated. <\/p>\n The paintwork was also pretty solid. There\u2019s some slop here and there like on the feet & lower torso, but most of the black lines are done well, as in the red line down the cape. The only thing about the paint is that I shouldn\u2019t have bought this silver pained figure. In the trailers, Phasma has a chromed, shiny armor and while this figures look good \u2013 you just know a vac-metal version will happen someday. That\u2019ll be even easier on a 5 POA figure. I want that now! Truth be told though, I\u2019m going to buy the 6\u201d figure too and will probably say something really similar. <\/p>\n As I mentioned, this is a 5 POA figure \u2013 ball-joint at the neck, and swivels at the shoulders, & hips. So, if you\u2019re not into that sort of thing, don\u2019t buy this figure. The legs can bend to about seventy degrees while the arms are only slightly blocked by the cape (it\u2019s pretty soft plastic). The helmet has a nice set of range on top of that one-piece ball neck. <\/p>\n Phasma included two accessories if you don\u2019t count her removable cape. The big thing is the blaster cast in silver with some fine black detailing. It works and can be held in either hand. The other accessory is more complicated. There\u2019s some battle-bot thing you can build if you collect groups of figures. In this case, Phasma is in a group with Ren & Luke. Get all three and you get this little battle bot that can fight another battle bot to the death. Well, I\u2019m not really sure about that, but you can build the gear. Phasma got a two-handled buzzsaw. In the right hands, it could be deadly. <\/p>\n Overall, yeah I have a little bit of purchase remorse. It\u2019s not about this figure though. The $6 was right. The sculpt is good, the articulation is fine if you\u2019re ready for it, and it just looks sharp with the cape and paint. It\u2019s a solid investment if you\u2019re collecting the 3-3\/4 line. For me, I just know I will replace it with a shiny version someday. It\u2019s okay though because I\u2019m gonna love this character. I don\u2019t mind having Phasmas in different scales and having her in different shades of silver isn\u2019t gonna be a big deal either. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"![\"\"](\"reviews\/swimages\/2015\/phas04.JPG\")
