Fearless and inventive.”<\/em> – Jabba the Hutt to Princess Leia (disguised as Boushh). “Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi” (1983)<\/strong><\/p>\nI\u2019m gonna be a weird on this one. I don\u2019t care that this figure is Princess Leia. I treat Boushh like he\u2019s my seventh Bounty Hunter. It\u2019s a cool reveal in the movie and I\u2019m not sure how many of my fellow fans really care about whoever Boushh was, if we was a real dude, etc. I always did and it turns out he is real, well, or he used to be \u2013 is EU from before the OT gone as well? Well, whatever. Here\u2019s the real reason this is Boushh and not so much Leia in disguise for me. This figure is a whole head taller. I didn\u2019t open and can\u2019t find Slave Leia to give you a proper pic, but you could basically remove this Leia\u2019s head and the neck peg is basically equal in height to the previous figure. How sad. <\/p>\n

<\/center><\/p>\nI mean, if you\u2019re collecting Leia\u2019s \u2013 you\u2019ve been screwed twice by the Black Series. Slave Leia is a decent enough figure with bad paint bringing it down. And now Boushh is a giant. Thanks, Hasbro! For me, this is a win though, because that helmet is staying on. He\u2019s hanging out with his BH crowd. All I have to remember is to spell his name right. It\u2019s one s and two h\u2019s. Boushh. If I misspell it before the end of the review, forgive me. <\/p>\n

<\/center><\/p>\nLike most of SWB, the sculpt is pretty well spot on. The technical bits are best \u2013 the helmet (it\u2019s a tad big, but good), the collar, and the belt\/bandolier are impressive. The tanks on her back are removable and finish off the costume. The clothing parts of the figure are decent sculpts too, but lack the fine detail of the non-organic areas. More paint would probably help take care of that, but I\u2019ll get to that in a second. <\/p>\n

<\/center><\/p>\nUnderneath the helmet is an\u2026 okay head sculpt? It\u2019s not quite as Carrie Fisher as the Slave Leia one was, but it\u2019s painted a ton better! The dangling hair actually manages to look good and the figure looks sharp unmasked. But this is Boushh, so let\u2019s just put that helmet right back up on top. There is the cloth little half cape too. I\u2019m getting over my anti-softs goods feelings lately, so I don\u2019t mind it. It is attached the belt, so I could get rid of it if I wanted to. It\u2019s crammed up pretty well in the package, so it looks rough here since I haven\u2019t messed with it. Yep, still don\u2019t like soft goods on 6\u201d figures! <\/p>\n

<\/center><\/p>\nOn the paint side, the helmet is probably the best part of the figure. It\u2019s almost overpainted compared to everything else! It\u2019s got different finishes to highlight different parts, weathering, and plenty of detail. Below the neck, we get some attentive areas like the spikes on the gloves, the tampos on the back canisters, and some other bits here and there, but the costume would\u2019ve really benefitted from some more weathering to match the great helmet. This is true of the entire line at this point though. The Leia head underneath is also painted quite well. I wish I could mash the two Leia heads together. I bet we\u2019d get one great one. Continue to Page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The articulation is a little hit & miss. There are ball-joints at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, mid-torso, hips, & inverted ankles; swivels at the thighs and double-hinged knees. Most of this works well, but the costume design gets in the way in a few key areas. The legs have all the articulation you\u2019d want, but the tight, semi-rigid plastic skirt piece isn\u2019t kind to the ball-jointed hips. The arms are missing that key bicep swivel and while a ball-jointed elbow can uselessly make up for that, it\u2019s harder her because of the sleeves blocking their range. Finally, the shoulders are just a bit frustrating though I can\u2019t put my finger on why. They tend to spring back out of poses. <\/p>\n Boushh included her two trademark accessories, though I can\u2019t tell you what the staff is \u2013 force pike? Electrostaff? I don\u2019t know. It\u2019s here and it\u2019s fine. It\u2019s not as gummy as I was worried about, but it is somewhat difficult for her to hold. Part of that is because the left hand is sculpted for the other accessory, the thermal detonator. I like that little ball enough, but I was worried I would lose it until I saw the peg on the belt for it! Thank you! Anyway, the staff can still be held in both hands as long as the right one is doing most of the work. The thing is though that Hasbro should\u2019ve turned the wrist hinge sideways so she could hold the staff upright. That was a small oversight on their part. <\/p>\n Overall, this is still a really nice entry into the line. The sculpts are still solid and the attention to detail is noticeable and appreciated. Boushh just needed a little bit more love. I wish they would add more paint to the figures in general; SWB still reminds me of the early Hasbro attempts at Marvel Legends. The accessories are great and the level of articulation is nice, but some accommodations for the costume and the staff would\u2019ve been helped the figure be a ton more fun to play around with. Oh, and they totally messed up the height. If you wanted another Leia, that stinks.
