There are too dang many Marvel Legends coming out! <\/p>\n

A toy reviewer can barely keep up. I\u2019ve got the Ultron wave laying around. The S.H.I.E.L.D. 3pk with Coulson is sitting unopened nearby. The Hulkbuster Wave is here. The Rhino Wave is in in-stock at BBTS. And that\u2019s not to mention I never got to review that sweet three-pack with Radioactive Man & the new Ms. Marvel. And did I even do all the Thanos figures? I know I didn\u2019t do the Hobgoblin or Odin figures\u2026 <\/p>\n

Anyway, it\u2019s enough to drive a guy crazy. So I thought I\u2019d pull a page from the greatest toy reviewer ever, Michael Crawford, and review the waves in groups. I already reviewed the Ant-Man & the Ultron, so I\u2019m going to run through the other five right now: Tiger Shark, Wasp, Giant Man, Bulldozer, & Grim Reaper if I can remember his name long enough\u2026 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

The other thing that\u2019s killing me about all the Marvel Legends these last few months is that I just seem to be unable to pass on them. I thought Hasbro upped their game with the Terrax\/Return wave, but these last few waves have been wallet killers. What I think has finally set ML apart from the past is that Hasbro has put together a nice buck system. And it\u2019s really on display in this wave. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

Giant-Man has the basic body, Grim Reaper the more heroic body, Tiger Shark the bodybuilder body, and Bulldozer is on that giant-size body all the Wrecking Crew has used. These are all great sculpts with all the right articulation worked in, so Hasbro basically doesn\u2019t have to worry about it. As long as the get the specific bits & paint right, they\u2019re good. At least with the guys. <\/p>\n

Wasp\u2019s the one buck disappointment in this set. She\u2019s still using one of the older Hasbro bucks with the squared off torso joint, skinny & easily warped limbs. I have a hard time getting her to stand regardless of what I do with the wings (which are really well done). Continue to Page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Those specific bits I mentioned earlier are fantastic for all five figures. A top the wonky body sits a great Janet Van Dyne sculpt. The short hair face details give her a really unique look that will stand out on the shelf. It\u2019s almost enough to ensure I keep her long term. Giant Man & Tiger Shark both have sharp head sculpts as well (if you overlook a warped fin on Tiger Shark). Reaper has one of the best crazy head sculpts I\u2019ve seen while also getting a nifty scythe-hand. Bulldozer is the highlight of the set for me though. While I would\u2019ve preferred him to have a classic look like other members of the Crew, his updated looks isn\u2019t far off and looks great. The tempered steel looks amazing and the two-piece helmet gives the final sculpt much needed depth. He\u2019s easily my favorite comic-based figured in the wave. <\/p>\n

The paint work is also well done across the wave. It\u2019s the great paint that sells so many of the head sculpts. The open mouth designs on Tiger Shark & Grim Reaper are well painted for an area that is usually trickey. The washes on Bulldozer finish his look. The only issues I had were with the tampos. Wasp & Grim Reaper had some spots where the tampo didn\u2019t fully adhere, but Tiger Shark & Giant Man are pretty great. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

Articulation, as I mentioned, is basically standardized across the bucks at this point. Ball-jointed necks, shoulders, wrists, hips, & inverted ankles; double-hinge knees and elbows; swivels at the biceps, waist, and thighs, and the ab crunch. The only exceptions are Grim Reaper\u2019s swivel-hinged scythe, Wasp\u2019s ball-elbows (no bicep swivel) & her ball-jointed wings, and then Bulldozer\u2019s got a few: swivel forearms instead of wrists, hinge ankles, single-hinge elbows, and a toe-joint. Ok, so I guess he\u2019s pretty different! <\/p>\n

No real accessories for these five. The capes & wings are removable, but those hardly count. They did each include a piece of Ultron, of course. <\/p>\n

Overall, it was a pretty great wave. I bought it mainly to get Ultron, who I was kinda disappointed by, but I ended up liking all the figures. Bulldozer was my favorite and he completes the Wrecking Crew which is a big deal for me. I have less connection to the others though Giant Man\u2019s newer costume has a cool look which is captured well by the figure. Tiger Shark is similarly fun and probably a keeper. I\u2019m less inclined to keep the Reaper. He\u2019s unique and well done, but I just don\u2019t enough about the character. Finally, I want a good Wasp figure and this head sculpt and wings are tops, but she really could\u2019ve used one of the newer bucks. I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve reviewed any of the figures that use them yet, but they\u2019re great figures. For picking up Ultron & really wanting the Ant-Man I was happy to get a batch of cool figures instead of filler. Now I\u2019ve just got to figure out how to make room for all these new additions. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
