In all the nerdy glee we Marvel cinematic fans have coming this week, toy collectors have an extra joy: replacing the figures we bought for the last movie! <\/p>\n

Yep, toy companies can\u2019t help but re-offer figures from film-to-film in a franchise, and that leaves it up to us to decide if the last movie\u2019s batch of figures was good enough, or if the new toy is so good that we choose the upgrade. For Avengers, most of the main characters will be available in a box set from Amazon, but a few figures, like the Hulk here, are available now in the Marvel Legends Infinite Series Avengers wave. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

The first thing you notice about Hulk is that he\u2019s\u2026 hulking. He\u2019s taking up nearly all of the space in the packaging. He\u2019s bigger than the BAF \u2013 which always amuses me. I\u2019m too tired to recall exactly how much bigger the Avengers movie Hulk should be than your average soldier or tin man, but the size looks good. He\u2019s a smidge taller than the first Avengers Hulk, the extra edge being in the legs. I can\u2019t tell if they look a little too long or I\u2019m just used to seeing Hulk have squat limbs. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

There is some reuse from that first Hulk. Namely the arms, and the legs below the knee. I wouldn\u2019t normally mind, but these parts do this figure a disservice in some ways. The arms more so than the legs. The legs simply lack texture where it\u2019s needed, but they\u2019re more detailed and don\u2019t blend as well with the smooth torso on the AOU figure as they did on the first one. The slightly different shade of green between the limbs probably doesn\u2019t help too much either. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

Of the new pieces, basically the main trunk of the figure, the sculpt has mostly improved from the original. The new torso is particularly smooth, maybe too much so more, but I like it better than the leathery hide of the first offering. The new pants are okay \u2013 they\u2019re the movie design. They\u2019re simply not as cool as the tattered pants of the first figure, but they work well enough. There is also the new left fist \u2013 which is kinda aggravating. The arms are reused, as is the right fist, can we get some swappable action up in here? <\/p>\n

The crowning achievement on this sculpt though has to be the head sculpt. It\u2019s a fantastic upgrade from the original. It has so much more life than the first one, and not to mention more realistic proportions, the deep-set eyes, furled brow, and the detail on the teeth are all well done making it a great example of a proper head sculpt. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

The paint work on Hulk was pretty easy. The worst offender isn\u2019t even really the paint, it\u2019s the mismatched colors between the hard and softer plastics. Luckily, that\u2019s not readily visible in all lights and exaggerated by the camera. In terms of actual paint \u2013 the head is again and key and done wonderfully here, the teeth especially. The paint on the pants is pretty much slop free and the little Avengers logo tampos are mostly clean \u2013 if inadvertently funny. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

Hulk\u2019s articulation is both pretty damn good and, yet, could still be better. The ball-joints at the neck, shoulders, wrists, hips, and inverted ankles are all great as are the swivels at the biceps and thighs. The double hinges at the elbows and knees have good range despite the bulk, but that came at great cost to the sculpt on the arms. The deep cuts seem really out of place with the rest of the figure. All of this articulation is still good though \u2013 I just find myself missing some boot swivels and a waist swivel. There is a decent joint at the ribcage, but I still find myself wanting to turn the figure at the waist. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

Overall, while I\u2019d like a little bit more articulation and those arms to blend in a little better, I think Hasbro has me on this one. Hulk is a definite upgrade for me. His slightly larger size and amazing head sculpt shoot him ahead of the prior figure. I will miss the tattered pants, these speedos just don\u2019t do it for me, but overall, I\u2019m liking this guy a ton better. <\/p>\n
