The POP section of MOTU is always the one that requires the most research on my part. I need to rewatch most of the old Filmation shows that I can (I never seem to find much time for television) and that\u2019s particularly true for She-Ra, Princess of Power. There are plenty of episodes that I\u2019ve not even seen once. Particular to Spinnerella, I\u2019ve never seen the episode \u201cWhen Whispering Woods Last Bloomed\u201d and that means I\u2019ve never seen her one and only appearance. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

In that particular episode, the Rebels are celebrating the one-year anniversary of Netossa & Spinnerella joining the Rebellion. Did I mention it was the only episode Spinnerella appeared in? It\u2019s also Netossa\u2019s first appearance, so I guess that first year is what we\u2019d call not well documented? Anyway, Spinnerella has this awesome power to\u2026 um, spin. And Hordak is convinced that this is just the thing he needs to finally do away with the Rebels once and for all. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

So he kidnaps her model buddy Netossa and blames the Rebels for the kidnapping. Hijnks ensue. The plot is revealed, foiled, and we get the flashback episode one year later. Simple enough. But then the Rebellion seemingly never needs her help again (though Netossa appears a few more times). Her vintage figure was also one of the last released and is among the rarest vintage MOTU ites to pick up. All this makes Spinnerella more obscure then she probably ought to be. At least until now. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

Spinnerella was the final figure in Club Etheria. At least I think so, December got a little blurry there. She did cost a little more due to the tremendous amount of paint apps to get her costumes details just right. And, overall, I\u2019d say she was worth the extra cash. Continue to Page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

Like most of the POP girls, she\u2019s built on the standard 2.0 female buck. She shares a few parts like the bodice and boots with Flutterina, but an all-new belt\/skirt, new bracers (with ribbons, and an all-new head sculpt bring home the specific details. The face itself is fantastic, but the highlight of the head sculpt is easily the hair. I prefer the basic Filmation look, but the 4H\/Mattel engineered a neat custom option into the figure. The ponytail can be removed and a new extra bit can be added that gives the hair a little more height and adds a tiara to capture the classic toy look. I\u2019m not going to use the pieces, but it\u2019s a really neat thing to be included. And, yes, the hair is bulky, but it\u2019s dead on accurate and looks great. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

The bracers and skirt with their long tassels are equally well done. These long alternating blue ribbons are where a lot of the paint money went, but they look and really bring something to the sculpt. The cool thing on the skirt is the long ribbons also help the leg articulation to still be incredibly functional. I appreciate that. The arms are also fully functional, but the lack of a swivel going into the bracer (Which isn\u2019t a normal joint for MOTU figures) does leave the ribbons from the arm protruding in various ways and can leave some poses looking a little off. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

Spinnerella has standard articulation throughout and as I just said, the new sculpt pieces don\u2019t impeded much. The only area to watch out for is that massive chunk of hair interfering with the neck. There is still great side-to-side articulation surprisingly and the head moves so much better than past POP releases that I barely find this one an issue. The paintwork is mostly good. It\u2019s funny because the ribbons are great. The face and hair is great, but the bodice is sloppy \u2013 almost enough that it nags me. So close to being perfect. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/center><\/p>\n

In addition to the hair extensions, Spinnerella included two additional accessories. The standard shield \u2013 though it doesn\u2019t fit as well on her as it does other girls. Her new, unique accessory is a pretty cool spear. I don\u2019t know that it has a specific origin, but it\u2019s a neat piece and once I\u2019m happy to let her keep on the shelf. Now about Netossa…<\/p>\n

Overall, I\u2019m pleasantly surprised by this figure. I don\u2019t want to sound down on POP, but we got a lot of it all at once with the mini-sub and a few spots in the main sub and it\u2019s a little overwhelming even now as I\u2019m going back and working my way through all the releases. But all of that washed away once I got Spinnerella in front of the camera. She was a blast to photograph and pose and a nice addition to the line! <\/p>\n
