As we’re wrapping up the Checklist Updates before Toy Fair (& being scared of that Marvel Universe checklist…), we’re adding one small checklist to the site: a guide to NECA’s Video Game Appearance line. NECA debuted the line with Jason at SDCC 2013, taking inspiration from a fan’s custom (he got a call out on the box, pretty cool!), and the line exploded shortly thereafter. There’s not a ton of releases, fourteen figures so far, but there is just a fun, crazy appeal to the line.<\/p>\n
Except that it’s not quite a line. It’s really a group of repaints from various lines and I thought it’d be fun to toss all those guys together in one place. Originally, I’d put together a checklist based on those old Sears or Penney’s catalogs, but it was rather plain. I didn’t post it yet, but solicited some feedback on Facebook & Twitter. I was stunned when one of the comments I read told me exactly what I should’ve done. A catalog page? For shame. It should be a Player Select screen! So I threw everything out and started over. Yep, this NECA checklist is already on v2 and it’s not even a day old!<\/p>\n
The new checklist was tough for me – I had to make more graphics than I’m used to and I tried some mouseover text and images to spice things up. I think it turned out pretty well. I hope you agree.<\/p>\n
