2014 Armchair Coverage Index! Monday Update!"},"content":{"rendered":"

Well, Preview Night took me a little longer to get up to speed this year! No one really tells you that being an expectant father takes some work. I didn’t expect to just show up on delivery day and play catch, but if any of you are planning on having kids – prepare to be busier before<\/em> your little bundle of joy comes too. Also, tell your wife to not schedule any prenatal classes during the week of SDCC. Just sayin’.<\/p>\n

Okay, so if you swung by the site on Thursday, you found something completely different than what’s here today. It doesn’t look it, but it is. The article you’re looking at is a multi-page article containing all the links for SDCC Armchair Coverage, each page containing a different franchise, theme, or company. The breakdown is based on whatever makes sense. MOTU Classics is one of our biggest draws, so it gets its own page. NECA is awesome and we’ve grouped all their awesome together on one page. In recent years, Mattycollector<\/a> has stepped up to provide news and images from SDCC first<\/em> and this year is no exception! They’ve updated their news section with their Preview Night Reveals for MOTU Classics!<\/p>\n

First up are the two teased October figures from NYTF, Eldor & Sweet Bee! I’m still not digging Eldor’s hood. I commend the idea of it being removable, but if you can’t make it look right… <\/p>\n

Masters of the Universe\u00ae Classics Eldor\u2122, $25<\/p>\n

The October Club Eternia\u00ae figure has been revealed! This mentor to He-Ro\u00ae was a prototype figure seen in the 1987 Mattel catalog, and he arrives in the 2014 lineup as a perfect companion to your 2009 He-Ro\u00ae figure. Eldor\u2122 arrives with his book of transformation, first glimpsed at the 2014 Toy Fair in New York. He comes with a removable hood and wizard staff with deactivated spell stone. Available 10\/15.<\/p>\n

Masters of the Universe\u00ae Classics Sweet Bee\u00ae, $25<\/p>\n

Her helmet was shown at the 2014 Toy Fair in New York and now the rest of the October Club Etheria\u2122 figure has been revealed! This Princess of Power\u00ae comes with her shield, bee blaster and removable articulated wings. This figure will ship only to 2014 Club Etheria\u2122 subscribers in October and will not be available for purchase during the regular October sale or at any time during 2014.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Next up was probably the worst kept secret in MOTU this year, Mattycollector is following in the footsteps of Star Wars with jumbo scale vintage figures. I don’t need a ton of these, but I’m down for a few of my favorite characters. I was worried about Mattycollector charging a premium higher than the premium these jumbo figures usually cost, but Mattel kept the prices in line with Gentle Giant, pricing them at $75 each. These will start in September, and be released one a month until the end of the year. The last two should be revealed on Friday’s panel. <\/p>\n

Masters of the Universe\u00ae Giant He-Man\u00ae and Giant Skeletor\u00ae, $75 each<\/p>\n

A new Masters of the Universe\u00ae line is coming this fall! More details about all four large-scale figures will be revealed at the fan panel, including information about these two figures, available in September and October, and two additional figures available in November and December.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And finally, Mattel can always be relied upon for one big reveal on Preview night! This year? A full-on Battle Ram! I had a feeling we’d see this after the Jet Sled was brought back for this month’s re-offerings! The snake head for the Jet sled is the Evil Warriors version, so this might confound an MIB collector, but I think it’s a pretty awesome way to change things up! The new MAA is an interesting thing I didn’t see coming – I don’t know that I need a new MAA, but I like the changes here to give him a more Filmation look. I’ve heard conflicting reports that this will come with a number of accessories also, but I’m not sure on that. <\/p>\n

Masters of the Universe\u00ae Classics Battle Ram\u2122 with Man-At-Arms\u00ae, $110<\/p>\n

The all-new fan-demanded MOTUC vehicle has arrived! The front half is a detachable Jet Sled\u2122 with a snake design, which can be interchanged with the 2013 Griffin design Jet Sled\u2122 that came with Sky-High. The new Battle Ram\u2122 features real rolling wheels, a projectile launcher, and includes an all-new version of Man-At-Arms\u00ae with a helmetless head that shows off his awesome ponytail. The figure has double arm armor and \u201cleather\u201d boots, and arrives with mace, a pistol, and a sword that snap into his armor. This special year-end holiday item is not part of the Club Eternia\u00ae sub, and will be offered to everyone in our regular sale on 12\/15.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The panel is tomorrow, so no big reveals today, but Mattel did post some Axel Gimenez artwork at Mattycollector<\/a>. It’s some really nice work, so check it out. I was distracted by this: <\/p>\n

Now, y’all now I want a Red Beast in this line – even over some of the stuff we know we still need to get. Now the fact that this artwork looks like they could totally use the Shadowbeast buck to make an awesome Red Beast is probably coincidence. But a man can dream…<\/p>\n
