I Didn\u2019t Even Review in 2013!"},"content":{"rendered":"

\"201300n\"Today we’re looking at my Top Ten figures I didn’t even review this year.\u00a0 As with Noisy, there are different reasons why these figures didn’t make my review schedule.\u00a0 This probably wouldn’t surprise many of you, but he and I have similar buying habits.\u00a0 Sure he’s venturing into Hot Toys territory, while I’m more likely to import some crazy thing that happened to catch my eye.\u00a0 But when it comes to the top US companies we tend to buy a lot of the same things.\u00a0 So a couple of the figures on this list were reviewed by him instead, but they were just too good for me to not mention them here.<\/p>\n

This year also posed a challenge because there were a few high ticket items that I was really interested in (I’m specifically looking at you, giant green castle…).\u00a0 So choices had to be made and unfortunately I had to pass on a few great figures in order to afford others.\u00a0 But that doesn’t mean I won’t catch up eventually.\u00a0 So you’ll probably still see some of these reviews, they’ll just be a little retro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Vault No. 10 – Marvel Legends: Rocket Raccoon!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
\"10\"<\/td>\nI was pretty excited for the return of Marvel Legends, but each consecutive month that seems to get replaced more and more with frustration.\u00a0 Finding any figure that isn\u2019t from wave one is nearly impossible around here.\u00a0 I think half of a Hit Monkey wave showed up once, and Rocket has yet to make his way to shelves.\u00a0 But his rarity doesn\u2019t dissuade my interest.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He\u2019s a great looking little figure and I always feel that twinge of jealousy every time I see Noisy\u2019s hanging out with the rest of his six inch brethren.\u00a0 Here\u2019s hoping Hasbro gets more of these guys out by the time the movie rolls around.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Vault No. 9 – K’NEX Super Mario Series 2!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
The \u201cblind bag\u201d craze has to be one of the most influential trends in recent toy history.\u00a0 Everyone seems to be doing it, and it can definitely become a black hole for any collector\u2019s wallet.\u00a0 So I try to take it easy and just stick with mostly the LEGO brand, but that doesn\u2019t mean I don\u2019t splurge sometimes.\u00a0 Series two of K\u2019NEX Super Mario figures included some of my favorite characters from the franchise and was too good to pass up.\u00a0 Now my toy shelves are menaced with a small infestation of Shy Guys, Dry Bones, and Boos.<\/td>\n\"09\"<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Vault No. 8 – Takeya Revoltech: Fudo Myooh & Karura!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
\"08\"<\/td>\nThere aren\u2019t a lot of opportunities for toy collectors to pick up a line of super articulated religious figures (although I wish there were\u2026).\u00a0 With their top notch sculpts and equally amazing paint apps, Revoltech\u2019s Takeya line is probably the most unique import line I collect.\u00a0 But unfortunately I missed out on two of the figures this year: Fudo Myooh and Karura.\u00a0 Being new figures, they shouldn\u2019t be too hard to track down still.\u00a0 So you should still see reviews of them on IAT, I\u2019m just a bit bummed I couldn\u2019t get them out closer to the release dates.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Vault No. 7 – Figma: Labrys!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
This is an odd one.\u00a0 Usually I\u2019m pretty quick to review my imports, and I think this may be the first Figma that I bought and haven\u2019t reviewed.\u00a0 You all know I love robo girls, and Figma\u2019s Aegis is one of my favorite figures of all time.\u00a0 So when Labrys (another character from the same series) was solicited, I preordered her immediately.\u00a0 Unfortunately she was done in a new scale and ended up being a head shorter than Aegis.\u00a0 While the figure itself is good, she looks terrible next to Aegis.\u00a0 This left a pretty sour taste in my mouth and I just lost interest in reviewing her.\u00a0 Poor girl.\u00a0 Maybe she\u2019ll get attention in 2014\u2026<\/td>\n\"07\"<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Vault No. 6 – Robo Force!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
\"06\"<\/td>\nAgain, I love those robots and my absolute favorite Glyos figures are the various Gobon molds, but it\u2019s the retro styled blocky bots that that really speak to my toy heart.\u00a0 Kent has done an amazing job at ToyFinity creating an updated Robo Force line that\u2019s compatible with the Onell joint system.\u00a0 There are countless combinations in each, making just one figure a potential army builder in itself.\u00a0 Someday I will be around in time for one of these drops and a small robot army will be mine!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Vault No. 5 – Jurassic Park\u2019s Allosaurus!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
\"05\"<\/td>\nFrom robots to dinosaur toys!\u00a0 With the rerelease of Jurassic Park to theaters, Hasbro decided to cash in a bit by trotting out the old JP line again.\u00a0 But among all those old familiar repaints was a bit of new blood.\u00a0 A sub-line dubbed \u201cDino Showdown\u201d pitted dinosaur against human.\u00a0 These two new dino figures (Allosaurus and Pachycephalosaurus) had all new molds with a good amount of articulation.\u00a0 The humans are equally impressive being GI Joe repaints and coming with a bevy of accessories.\u00a0 But dino figures are best reviewed outside, so maybe this spring I\u2019ll schedule a little time for this cool two-pack.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Vault No. 4 – SH MonsterArts: Kiryu!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
With a lot of high ticket items coming out this year, and an unfortunate limit to my finances (Thanks, bills\u2026), I had to skip some figures in one of my favorite and consistently expensive lines:\u00a0 SH MonsterArts.\u00a0 While my plan is to eventually pick up all the kaiju, I still kick myself for having to miss a couple on release.\u00a0 Mechagodzilla 3, AKA Kiryu, is definitely one of those figures.\u00a0 Robot duplicates of the main monster always have a certain amount of coolness to them, but Kiryu is the first to look just as ferocious intimidating as the Big G himself.\u00a0 Throw in some amazing articulation and this figure has me drooling still.<\/td>\n\"04\"<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Vault No. 3 – SH MonsterArts: Godzilla 1964!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
\"03\"<\/td>\nThe only other figure out right now that I want more than Kiryu is Godzilla\u2019s 1964 MonsterArts.\u00a0 This Showa era good guy that took down other monsters with wrestling-like moves is the Godzilla I grew up watching on VHS.\u00a0 This figure may be smaller than his modern counterparts, but he\u2019s definitely got more loveable heart and will fit in perfectly with the other Showa kaiju from the Sci-Fi Revoltech line.\u00a0 Again, I curse my budget while wondering if Bandai is up to sending out product samples\u2026<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Vault No. 2 – Transformers Masterpiece: Soundwave!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
It\u2019s only right that the next two toys are at the top of my list.\u00a0 These are two of the best toys this year, and since Noisy did their reviews I knew I had to throw them onto this list.\u00a0 I was lucky enough to snag a Masterpiece Soundwave at my local TRU this year.\u00a0 Not only is he an amazing figure, but he\u2019s also my favorite Transformers character.\u00a0 So picking him up was imperative and I pretty much made TRU a daily stop until he arrived.\u00a0 The inclusion of his cassette army was a fantastic bonus and all these figures are currently hosting a dance party on my shelf for the rest of my figures.<\/td>\n\"02\"<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Vault No. 1 – MOTU Classics: Castle Grayskull!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
\"01\"<\/td>\nCastle Grayskull is definitely one of the top toys of this year.\u00a0 With expenses going up, there\u2019s not a lot of playset love in the toy aisles anymore.\u00a0 A subscription line playset made for six inch figures was basically a pipe dream, but that didn\u2019t stop us from wanting it.\u00a0 If MOTU Classics ended tomorrow and we never finished the vintage roster, I\u2019d still have to consider this line a huge success because we got the impossible.\u00a0 It\u2019s the second most expensive toy I\u2019ve ever bought, and I still don\u2019t have a dedicated place to display it, but I still can\u2019t help smiling when I look over and see the cornerstone of the MOTU-verse staring back.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
