I Didn’t Even Review in 2013!"},"content":{"rendered":"

Vault and I were planning on putting together our usual competing Top Ten “Unreviewed” toys, but the crazy weather (I stop counting at “negative too damn cold”) has put us a little off schedule. Today, I’ll be regaling you with my list of the top ten 2013 toys I purchased but “couldn’t be bothered” to review and then Vault will be back tomorrow with his list! <\/p>\n

There are a variety of reasons a figure doesn’t get to the review stage. The biggest reason is just a crowded schedule. I’ve wanted to get a review of the DC Direct Warth up for years, but so many new toys come out so quickly that some figures, like Warth, just get left behind.<\/p>\n

Other times, it might be because the toy represents a particular challenge. Is it too big for the lightbox? Would it take eleventy billion pictures to do the review right? Is it an awesome toy, but just not lending itself to any funny pics? <\/p>\n

All of these happened and some have happened over the years and in some cases apply to the toys listed below. That’s not to say some of them won’t see reviews and soon here at IAT. Some certainly will, but I wanted to give these toys a shout out for being awesome in 2013 even if they didn’t make it on the site (just yet)! <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Noisy No. 10 – Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers Figuarts: White & Pink Rangers!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nThis one is a gimme since I specifically called out these two on yesterday\u2019s list<\/a>. The MMPR Figuarts is one of the best lines of 2013 (and it will be in 2014 too – should I get both versions of the Yellow Ranger?) and while these two aren\u2019t as cool as the Red<\/A> & Green<\/A> Rangers, they are still awesome in their own right. The White Ranger is a little light on accessories, but I can\u2019t wait to open these guys! Oh, did I ever mention I try not to open a toy until I have time to review it? Yeah, that takes willpower sometimes, let me tell you. Even unopened, I’m still putting these two on here because I know they’ll be as good as the first two (& the dozens of other Figuarts before them).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 9 – Iron Man 3 Marvel Legends: Iron Monger!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
Okay, this is a weird one. If you can believe it, I actually had to check the Review Index<\/a> to make sure I really hadn\u2019t featured this guy! Iron Monger was simply the best BAF of 2013 (it wasn\u2019t a crowded field, but he would\u2019ve rocked regardless). Just knowing this guy was coming out had me selling off most of my 4\u201d scale Iron Man figures and he didn\u2019t disappoint in all his metallic blue glory. The best part was that pretty much every figure that he came with was great too even if I didn\u2019t really want them all. In 2014, Hasbro is using the Monger as a buck for the Mandroid and ensuring I pick up nearly all the Captain America figures too. Thanks, Hasbro.<\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 8 – G.I. Joe Collector’s Club Subscription 2.0: Widescope!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nWidescope is a great example of low or no expectations making a huge impact when a great figure arrives. I didn\u2019t pay attention to Joes ten years ago, but, had I been, I probably would\u2019ve like Widescope (& his Shockwave-ness). When he arrived (& recently too which is a factor in his lack of review) with one of the more recent FSS shipments, I just had to open him \u2013 I\u2019d anticipated selling him \u2013 and I loved the figure. I love the colors and the great accessories. My favorite 2.0 Joe so far! <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 7 – NECA Aliens: Genocide 2-Pack!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
Okay, technically, I did review the figure in his single release colors<\/a> and I almost thought about replacing him with the similarly red & fabulous Lava Predator, but I couldn\u2019t do it. The Red Alien has quickly become my favorite colorway on NECA\u2019s excellent update to their Xenomorph body. The figure is so great that I have it in brown highlights, silver highlights, & red already \u2013 and plan to pick it up again if future colors look as awesome. (Plus, possible Kenner versions!?!) For now, the Red Alien is the standout and, for once, I\u2019m glad to see a toy company creatively stretch their mold use. <\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 6 – Transformers Generations: Sandstorm!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nWhile Masterpiece is easily where all the great Transformers action is these days, I\u2019d be lying if I said I wouldn\u2019t like Hasbro to do more with the cheaper, and generally more easily obtained, regular line. Prime never really grabbed me and the few FOC toys I did snag weren’t great (Grimlock? Ugh!), but two retail purchases did stand out. I had to buy the FoC Springer, that\u2019s a given for me as I tend to favor the movie characters. He was awesome, but this mold-brother and recolor Sandstorm blew even my nostalgia away. I never had the original Sandstorm, but I love the colors and when combined with a slick Hovercraft mode and an awesome Dune Buggy mode, Sandstorm was easily my favorite not-$100 Transformer of 2013! <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Noisy No. 5 – NECA Quarter Scale: 1989 Batman!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nI\u2019m cheating a little on this one because I don\u2019t actually have it and it\u2019s delayed release could almost make it a 2014 figure if I so chose (and, hey maybe, it will show up in Top Lists next year!), but the NECA Quarter Scale Batman looks amazing in every picture I\u2019ve seen. This is my all-time favorite Batman (it doesn\u2019t have to be the best to be most loved) and since I can\u2019t flippin\u2019 get a 6\u201d version to save my soul, thank you for nothing Mattel, why not go big with an 18 incher? I love the Hot Toys version, I do, but his rubber suit worries me now & again. With this guy, I\u2019m getting one giant action figure from one of my favorite movies. What\u2019s not to love?<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 4 – Hot Toys Iron Man: Mark XXI, Midas Armor !<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
I bet I could put just about any Hot Toys Iron Man on the list if I had it, but I’ve been able to resist the siren call of “modern” Hot Toys figures for years (it’s the nostalgia that gets me in trouble). I easily passed on some cool Iron Men, but then they went and made this all-gold one. I’ll always love the classic colors (and War Machine more!), but for some reason color swaps just grab me sometimes (I’m looking at you White Boba Fett, or you Superman Red & Superman Blue…). Being a limited, expensive repaint, this IM lived up the hype, but I think the colors make him one of the coolest releases yet. Now can some one point me to the nanosecond suit appeared on screen? <\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 3 – NECA Predators: Jungle Disguse “Muddy” Dutch!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nAll you guys yesterday<\/a> wondering why I picked Jungle Extraction<\/a> over Jungle Disguise? Well, I hadn\u2019t reviewed Jungle Disguise! Ha! Truth is, I still would\u2019ve picked up Extraction as my number one, but that\u2019s not to take anything away from Muddy Dutch here. He\u2019s an excellent figure with paint and sculpt detailing that probably exceeds all the other versions. And that\u2019s the great thing about NECA here \u2013 we know that they need to make multiple Dutchs… Dutches… whatever… to cost out the molds, but the beauty is they don\u2019t skimp when a new piece is needed. Jungle Dutch has plenty of unique, wonderful, new parts and that\u2019s what set this figure & NECA part in 2013. <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 2 – G.I. Joe Retaliation: Tomahawk!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
This one is a little nostalgia-influenced for me. When I was a kid, the original Tomahawk was one of my favorite vehicles. I know, because I still have the husk of it in my garage. Like any good, cherished, child\u2019s toy, the paint is scratched off, the stickers peeling, parts missing, etc. I had a lot of cool Joe vehicles, but the Tomahawk will always be in my Top Five. And, after the awesome update the Skystriker received, I was stoked that Hasbro was going back to redo the Tomahawk. And they didn\u2019t disappoint. The new one has several improvements over the original and looks great with the new Joes. I can\u2019t seem to fit it and its massive rotors anywhere, but it was one my best pick-ups last year! <\/td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Noisy No. 1 – Hot Toys: 1989 Batmobile!<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n
<\/td>\nRaise your hand if you knew I collected Hot Toys? A few of you maybe knew, but I don\u2019t talk about it much. I\u2019m not sure why I don\u2019t review them. They\u2019re kind of daunting? My Go Hero Shadow\u2019s scarf is hard to pose. \u201989 Batman\u2019s cape is too. I feel like the reviews would be a lot of work and I\u2019d still get it wrong. Silly, I know. I have five of their figures and then this mammoth thing here: the \u201989 Batmobile. One of the coolest cars of all time. I love owning this thing \u2013 but it\u2019s so big that it has never even been completely out of the box. I need to find a good case, or at least a smart way to display it, and then I can maybe take some pics for an eventual review. It\u2019s an amazing toy. If you can still call it that at what it cost. <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
