Geldor is one of those figures in the line that I didn\u2019t really care about, but ended up really liking.\u00a0 I\u2019d never read his mini-comic, and didn\u2019t really have much to go on for characterization.\u00a0 It also didn\u2019t help that I voted for Illumina in the fan choice poll, so I was a bit biased against him.\u00a0 But after getting the figure and reading the original mini-comic, Geldor\u2019s character began to ingratiate himself to me.<\/p>\n

It was the figure that got me interested in the character though (which seems to happen a lot with this line).\u00a0 Even though he\u2019s based on the standard male buck with gloves, they added a few new bits to give him his own style.\u00a0 The new upper body armor, loincloth and boots really give off that barbarian-warlord vibe.\u00a0 But they could also easily be mixed into future figure designs (especially the boots and loincloth).<\/p>\n

What really makes this figure shine is the new headsculpt.\u00a0 The unique look of the mustache-to-Mohawk pretty much gives him the most unique hairstyle on all my MOTU shelves.\u00a0 \u00a0But it\u2019s his crazy eyes and sadistic toothy smile that makes him stand out.\u00a0 A lot of MOTU figures have a very plain expression, but Geldor\u2019s headsculpt shows him as the power-hungry bastard he truly is.<\/p>\n

Geldor\u2019s color is pretty basic, but still has a nice bit of detail.\u00a0 All the clothing is done in a similar red with highlights being done in a darker tone and glittery\/metallic sheen.\u00a0 There\u2019s also some nice dry brushing on his gray head-hair.\u00a0 One thing that did throw me a bit was that Geldor seems to just be tanned, similar to He-Man.\u00a0 I was under the impression from the mini-comic that he was black like Torgul, Maran, and Dakon.\u00a0 But I guess it\u2019s a bit ambiguous since the coloring isn\u2019t consistent throughout the story.\u00a0 Continue to page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n

When it comes to articulation, Geldor has the same basic setup as pretty much every other MOTU Classics figure.\u00a0 One cool thing is that the kneepads on his boots are sculpted to the upper thigh, so the figure is still able to keep the thigh swivel joint.<\/p>\n

Geldor comes with two accessories.\u00a0 First is his axe.\u00a0 It has a really basic design that matches its appearance in the mini-comic, but I was a bit put-off by its simplicity at first.\u00a0 It looks especially plain when compared to He-Man, Vikor, and Vykron\u2019s.\u00a0 But after learning more about his character and what a bastard he is, I think it\u2019s actually really fitting.\u00a0 Geldor doesn\u2019t care about fancy designs, he just needs a giant meat cleaver to cut down his enemies.\u00a0 That\u2019s exactly what he got.<\/p>\n

Geldor\u2019s other accessory is the Liquid of Life in a small cup.\u00a0 It\u2019s just a simple piece of translucent plastic that looks like it has clear liquid in it, but it\u2019s definitely a nice touch.\u00a0 One more relic for the collection!<\/p>\n

I am still disappointed we didn\u2019t get Illumina, but that\u2019s not Geldor\u2019s fault and the figure doesn\u2019t suffer for it.\u00a0 He has a great head sculpt, comes with more new pieces than I expected, and even two accessories.\u00a0 Geldor is probably one of the more no-nonsense evil villains in the MOTU, and I\u2019m pretty happy to add him to my shelf.<\/p>\n
