Even better? The figures still have a few kinks to work out, but they generally rock. If you’ve been waiting for Star Wars in 6″, I imagine you’ve got to be pretty excited.

And that excitement naturally translates into the figures you just have to have. I’m sure there are some that the vast majority of us are simply having a hard time waiting for the announcement. Three waves in and no Vader? C’mon! While I enjoy the Prequels just fine thank you very much (nearly all movies have a few things I don’t like), I’ll admit to my anticipation largely stemming from the OT. The aforementioned Vader, Chewie, C-3PO, etc. – but those are all coming right? They pretty much have to unless the line is suddenly DOA.

So the question is, who else from Star Wars do I really want painted black? (And yes, I know The Black Series applies to Hasbro’s new 3.75″ offerings, but that’s just bad branding on Hasbro’s part. Here at IAT Black = Twelfth Scale). Some names immediately sprang to mind last night and I quickly found myself trimming the last down to ten instead of building it up. I narrowed it down last night, and now that Vault has finally gotten around to sending me his Top Ten, we can get this show on the road!

Noisy No. 10 – Anyone That Isn’t a 3 3/4″ Figure!

Vault No. 10 – Admiral Ackbar!

I’m going to twirl my mustache a bit & say that SWB can’t come into its own until it gets a figure of character not available in 3.75″ (at least not at the time). It’d be noteworthy for the line and a fun experiment to see what everyone would do! (Pictured at left is Sim Arloo. He has vintage figure, but no modern update. What??)

IT’S A TRAP! Need I say more? I’m pretty sure this figure is going to get made. But I just wanted to point out that the bar has been set pretty high because of the Vintage Collection figure. Amazing sculpt, paint, and articulation all came together to make a perfect three inch clone. All I need is for it to happen again in a larger scale. Easy, right?

Noisy No. 9 – Logray!

Vault No. 9 – MagnaGuard!

Let’s face facts. Ewoks are going to happen in the Black line sooner or later and I’m okay with it! But which one first? Chirpa? Wicket? Nah. For me, I want Logray first and for no other reason than his vintage figure was a childhood favorite.
Plus – Coolest Accessories of Any Ewok!

Another figure I want solely based off of his Vintage Collection edition. That is one of my favorite fig (I never even cared about MagnaGuards before). They had an amazing sculpt & paint, plus articulation that blew every other Star Wars figure out of the water. Not to mention the nice use of a fabric cape and bonus effects parts for his staff. Just like Ackbar, repeat the process Hasbro.

Noisy No. 8 – Qui-Gon Jinn

Vault No. 8 – Riyo Chuchi!

This is another figure that I imagine is coming sooner than later even though the line has been more skewed to OT so far. The Phantom Menace doesn’t shine too bright, but Qui-Gon was usually around when it did and that leaves him high ranking on my personal list. And, hey, a good 6″ Liam Neeson figure would do wonders for my collection.

Chuchi is a senator from the icy planet of Pantora, but most importantly she’s the cutest female character in the entire Star Wars universe. But unfortunately she has yet to receive an action figure. And now that we’ve got a six inch line, I don’t want to go back to three! So bring on the six inch Chuchi love, Hasbro.

Noisy No. 7 – Lando Calrissian!

Vault No. 7 – Wedge Antilles!

I know. My Star Wars Black collection will simply not be complete without Lando Calrissian. The sooner the better.

Wedge is my favorite human in all of Star Wars. This unassuming X-Wing pilot saved Luke’s life during the original run on the Death Star. He destroyed an AT-AT and helped to defend the Rebel convoy as it evacuated Hoth. He escorted the Millennium Falcon into the second Death Star and fired the shot that destroyed the station. And he did it all without acting like a cocky nerf herder.

Noisy No. 6 – Shaak Ti!

Vault No. 6 – Ahsoka Tano!

One of the best parts about the new trilogy was the thriving Jedi culture. We were introduced to a litany of fun, new aliens shrouded in Jedi robes. I wanted this spot to go to one of those Jedi and I was having a hard time narrowing it down. Mundi? Secura? Luminara? Bariss? There are some great contenders, but ultimately I have to go with my wife’s favorite Jedi: Shaak Ti!

I had reservations about Ahsoka at first. She was a bit too “sassy-cute” for my taste, but as the show progressed I was glad to see her evolve into something that was worth watching. Like it or not, she’s become an important aspect to Anakin’s development and his eventual transition to Vader. A realistic 6″ scale version of her will definitely be welcome on my shelf.

Continue to Page 2 for our Top Fives!

Noisy No. 5 – Governor Tarkin!

Vault No. 5 – Embo!

I was a weird kid, okay. I think my strange tastes have been well established here at IAT, but I’ll give you a new one tonight. The best villain of A New Hope? It’s not Vader, it’s Tarkin! This guy destroyed a planet just to make a point. Vader may have been the Emperor’s flashy right hand, but it was surely Tarkin that got shit done. Its little wonder everything unraveled for the Empire so quickly after his demise.

If you take Clint Eastwood’s “Man With No Name” and cross him with a martial arts expert, you get Embo. This mysterious bounty hunter from the Clone Wars is a nearly unstoppable force once he sets his target. He’s already received a 3.75″ figure & I want the same treatment in Black. Removable hat/shield, foldable crossbow, and a handful of throwing knives would make this figure an excellent addition to the 6″ shelf.

Noisy No. 4 – Boba Fett (White)!

Vault No. 4 – Jabba the Hutt!

This one is a strange obsession for me. I love Boba Fett in white. I don’t even know why. I snapped up the 3.75″ McQuarrie fig. I bought a bunch of TVC I didn’t really want to get the mail-in prototype armor figure! I struggle constantly with buying the Sideshow version. Boba just looks so awesome in white! He’s easily a figure I need in Star Wars Black.

Who doesn’t love the Godfather of the Star Wars universe? Jabba may be a giant disgusting slug, but he’s one those characters that I’ve loved ever since I was a kid. And even though I wasn’t much of a completionist back then, I always had the urge to collect as much of Jabba’s palace as possible. A large articulated Jabba on his dais, with Salacious and some accessories would be a great start to a large shelf display.

Noisy No. 3 – Power Droid!

Vault No. 3 – Obi-Wan Kenobi (Clone Armor)!

You’re probably starting to think I’ve jumped the shark here, but this one is about me and my wife. I love the Gonk Droid. She loves the Gonk Droid. (You should see us play as him in Lego Star Wars!) so this is a natural for me. Heck, I paid $80 to get in on Gentle Giant’s Jumbo Gonk Droid! I need 6″ too!

If anyone knows how to enter a battlefield in style, it’s Obi-Wan Kenobi. One of my favorite moments in Clone Wars was when Obi-Wan donned a mixture of Clone armor and Jedi robes to lead a speeder bike jousting charge against Dirge and his robot forces. This was the first time I actually realized Kenobi was a skilled warrior who could easily sabotage a Death Star, as an old man, without anyone noticing.

Noisy No. 2 – Ben Kenobi!

Vault No. 2 – General Grievous!

I did it again! I know. This one is just an honest-to-goodness number two pick! The chances have moved to later rather than sooner with the younger version of Obi-Wan coming in Wave 3, but I am so excited to get to the older Ben Kenobi from Episode IV. I always loved the character, but he’s been enriched by more recent fiction too. If I’d been in charge, I would’ve kicked things off with Kenobi!

I love Grievous. He’s interesting (& tragic). And despite EpIII’s portrayal, he’s a truly devastating fighter & master tactician. But he’s never received a perfect figure. He needs his cape, blaster, sabers, & hands that can hold them. His arms need to split and still be articulated too. His articulated legs need to be able to hold him up. All my hope is resting on this Black figure. If they can’t get this one right, then we’ll never get a decent Grievous.

Noisy No. 1 – Gamorrean Guard!

Vault No. 1 – Rancor!

I’m going to wrap up on a personal note. My Dad doesn’t care for sci-fi all that much. It’s not his thing and that’s okay, but every once in awhile something I like amuses him and we make a connection. The Gamorrean Guard is one of those things. I don’t know why my Dad loves the Gamorreans so much, other than they’re awesome, but it’s one of the few times he bought a figure for himself. He really enjoyed having it for years. I’ve never forgotten it and the Guards will always be associated with my Dad for me.

Yeah, I went there! I want as much of Jabba’s palace as possible and the Rancor is a major part of that action. I realize this figure will be huge. And I realize this figure would be expensive. But I also know he’ll make for one hell of a centerpiece on the shelf. Plus you have fantastic crossover potential.
