<\/a> When I decided to feature a few MOTU-compatible third party items this week, there was one person that I had to include: the super-talented Joe Amaro<\/a>. Joe has created some great add-on pieces for the line the last couple years including Rudy Obrero\u2019s Manta Raider<\/a> (I\u2019m still bummed I missed out on that one!) and the Castle Warriors Customization Kit. <\/p>\nThe Castle Warriors Kit was available last December. I don\u2019t remember too much about when it was on sale, I was moving into the my new house at the time, but I remember it sold out very quickly and that I was lucky enough to snag one – I think Vault was on at the same time and wasn’t able to complete the purchase before it sold out. <\/p>\n

<\/center><\/p>\nI would\u2019ve reviewed the kit when it got here, but many of the arrivals late last year got a little lost in the move. I think Castle Grayskull Man still needs reviewed, in fact, and I have absolutely no idea where the Great Unrest Weapons Pak is! I might have to buy a new one… As such, the Warriors Kit found itself a little lost at first, and I was happy to “rediscover” it during the months-long unpacking ordeal that I’ve barely started. The upside is that I can include a look at the Customization Kit for MOTU Week! <\/p>\n
<\/center><\/p>\nThe kit was designed in partnership with Castle Grayskull Man\u2019s creator, Daniel Benedict, and is a fun add-on either for your lone CGM or if you\u2019ve got some extras to spare. Though I tell ya, having it really makes me wish I had an extra to spare. When I opened the box, the first thing I noticed was the quality of the parts. I know this is true about the Manta Raider as well, Joe puts a lot of love into his work and it shows. The pieces are durable and feel like official pieces, maybe better than official pieces considering how often we get flimsy weapons these days. <\/p>\n
<\/center><\/p>\nThe kit includes three parts, and the primary one is of course the large display base. The castle wall is roughly 9\u201d tall and is simply a great piece of sculpting. The rocky texture fits in great with CGM and has indentions in the floor that perfectly fit his boots. When he\u2019s in standing in it, the whole piece definitely gives CGM a more \u201cstatue\u201d feel; he almost blends into the wall. The one downside is the Castle\u2019s limited height between floors means there were won\u2019t be an easy spot to place this 9\u201d monster, but I\u2019m hopeful I can find a way to work it in with the Castle arrives in a few weeks. Continue to Page 2…<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The other part of the kit is an awesome alternate head and removable helmet. This is the part where I feel really compelled to snag a second CGM. The new head is perfectly sized for the line, it pops on and off like any official head and is also color-matched to CGM. Joe did such a great job on the sculpt, that once you plop it on there, you wouldn\u2019t know that the head wasn\u2019t originally included. It looks that sharp. I’ve asked Joe about doing this sculpt in other colors – possibly an unhooded Skeletor head, so if you’re with me, you might let him know too and see if we can convince him. <\/p>\n The final piece is the removable helmet. The helmet fits perfectly over the included skull head and really completes the \u201cCastle Warrior\u201d look. The helmet is such a fun piece that I was looking for another character who could use it, but all the hair & helmets in the line really limited my options. I did sorta get it on Grizzlor. He looks funny, but then again, Grizzlor always looks funny. <\/p>\n Overall, this is a great add-on kit if you were able to pick it up. I asked Joe the other day about the possibility of hm selling a few more Kits, but he said he thought the item was retired. I know that will be a bummer for most of the readers, but maybe if enough of you go to Joe’s site and ask politely?<\/a> You never know… (Sorry, Joe, I had to do it!) If nothing else, everyone should check out Joe’s Blog<\/a> just to see the swanky Attak Trak he made for himself. His blogs kills me with all its wonderful toys!<\/p>\n While the CW Kit is currently retired, Joe did want me to let everyone know about his next item. I\u2019m pretty excited for this one and hopeful to get in on it (maybe I’ll even review it in a timely manner!). It’s a Hover Disc that will fit most 6″-7″ figures. The plan is that it will be available in Mid-November, Joe said he was shooting for 11\/18, and he’s looking at $20 plus shipping.
